Re: What type of skis for kiting?

Sacrificial ones!

Esp if your riding on frozen lakes and fields.

Sidewall construction will stand up way better than cap. Goes for skis or snowboards alike.

Re: High wind foiling

I generally need a thicker suit for some degree of bodily protection! In whining to my wife about the not so severe injury I sustained foiling the other day, she points out the plethora of unaccounted for bruising all over my thighs and arse. Anyone else find high wind foiling leads to a lot of myst...

Re: High wind foiling

Yeah man, overdress.

Its fall, Im in a winter suit.

Getting cold sucks, you play it too safe.

You will be stoked with your new kite when you get to use it..... which is likely soon, because.... well, foiling!

Re: Strapless hydrofoil airs, where to start

Learning to air a strapless surfboard is amazing and highly recommended, but its significantly different from the strapless hydrofoil air learning curve. Had a pretty rough wipeout yesterday where I came down on top of a spinning foil and some part of it scrapped the length of my ulna from elbow to ...

Re: High wind foiling

I have to respectfully disagree. Over the last few seasons I have experimented foiling in higher winds with five, three, single, strutless and Peak4s. In sizes 9,8.5,8,7,6.25,6,5,4,3.5 and 3m. I remember being stoked holding a 9m 5 strut Rally into 20 knots and feeling like I'd found something compl...

Re: High wind foiling

Yeah, get a 5

Then get a 4!

On one hand you can skip plenty of sizes and still make it work on foil, but eventually you get tired of having the kite put limitations on how you ride, especially as the conditions get bigger and better.

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

25-30 knots Highest measured gust was 37 with pretty thick great lakes swell. 1.5m ish. Only got the 3m at the end of summer and it was just in time for a pretty windy fall. Used it the day after I got it! Have had enough time on it to start getting used to it, but it can be fast enough that I lose ...
