Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Thanks, all, very much appreciated!

And thanks for the tip on the two-anchor system. I was not aware of that, and it sounds like a good idea.

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Any suggestions on who might be able to tune/repair a foil kite, please? I have an Ozone Access that got caught in a REALLY strong gust while attached to an anchor (let's not talk about it...). The kite now pulls to one side. If I recall, I checked the bar lines, and they seemed to be equal length. ...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

How do you think the wingtips will hold up if kiting over frozen/crusty/icy surfaces? That's a good question. The tips have a pretty beefy material on them, and as you may know, you really want to keep the tips off the surface (otherwise it drives downward and you probably need to let go anyway). W...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Nice! I must've been looking at a totally different forecast all week (and I still don't see it in the history) but glad you caught it and got out there. I took advantage of a gusty day yesterday to see if a wing feels safer than a kite. It does. First day putting miles in: https://youtu.be/-kl5yMbU...

Re: OK setup for a beginner on flatwater?

Thanks Eltreato and gription. I really appreciate hearing this. I am right around 5'11 to 6ft and have been wondering if a 6m would be too cumbersome. I've seen some models are supposed to be "less wide," so I may have to research some, then just make a decision and live with it.

OK setup for a beginner on flatwater?

Would you be willing to say if this setup would be "good enough" for me as a beginner, please? Board: 135L, unless that's completely crazy. I'm thinking a Naish inflatable because it'll be softer to fall on, and where I live, I'll definitely be shipping it if I sell it. Foil: I've had a few shops sa...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

I know snowkiting is picking up, but can we talk about wing foiling on water for a minute? "Buy straw hats in winter," they say. I'm curious if many of you have tried it, and if you think it could work well on reservoirs in CO, please. It seems like a mellow alternative to kiting (safer, easy on the...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Yeah, good times, and thanks everybody! You were really far away in that first picture — almost hard to tell there are kiters in there. I'm thinking that's me on the left (kept on working that section with some nice snow). I'd love to get back out this weekend.

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Got it, thanks. Hope you're feeling better soon. It's still early, so you have many more days (with even more snow) ahead of you this year.

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Happy Turkey Massacre Day gang! I am thankful that the white stuff is starting to pile up. Wind was good up at Crystal Reservoir in Ironton this afternoon but I was worried that I was going to fall through the mixed 6" thick ice/slush layers. I plan to get out Saturday up on Big Mac after the big d...
