Re: Foilboard started

Hi Tom, thanks for sharing, your board builds are works of art! I am close to finished on my latest board, would you be kind enough to share how you, and at what stage of the process do you add your cool paint job with a carbon build? Also the tricks for the TW on the board, please. I tried your Fac...

Re: My first long swim

Glad you are ok! I add a nose leash plug to my boards, and carry a spare safety. Don't need it often, but sure happy to have the board close.

Re: On the foil but unable to go upwind!?

I have had gradual sea grass build up on the mast or wings with dramatic performance degradation, stopped and had it fall off. Took a couple of cycles before I saw what was happening since the grass was floating below the surface, Of course, worst tourist distraction performance was tourists talking...

Re: fuselage fabrication

Hey, thanks for the input. Have you seen the Ron Gijzen windfoil build videos, I just found them. His method of shaped wood core and 200gm uni top and bottom, then all 4 sides 200gm uni, then a wrap of bias finished with a 100 gm of glass to have a sanding coat yeilded 570gr fuselage with a 22x44mm ...

Re: fuselage fabrication

Hey, great posts and exchange of ideas here, and sources, thanks. Just my experience, I could never get within 0.030" doing 3D printing for my wings, plus the cost of consumables. I switched to making my moulds out of corian, the scraps from counter shops are nearly free and mills really well with n...

Re: fuselage fabrication

Great idea, how many layers of sleeve between the foil and mast needed?

Anyone have a usa source of 8mm inserts for the dowel? Stainless or titanium.

Ash or hickory a good choice?

Re: fuselage fabrication

Wow, Airsail! Genius idea using the carbon sleeve over a dowel. How many sleeve layers would you need between the front foil and the mast (or slightly behind), and how many could be reduced for the trailing part of the fuselage? Any need to add longitudinal carbon in addition to the 45 degree wrap c...

Re: First foilboard mod

Thanks, that's actually a really good suggestion! The weight of 12 ea 20mm epoxy cores drilled out to 8mm is less than the weight of a track and is the same amount of adjustment. Any suggestions about how far from the back of a pintail board to start the mast adjustment? 6 or 8 inches for the back o...
