New wingfoiler ideas on how to learn pumping

I am kite foiler that started wing foil last year. I am out of shape, over 50 years old and 220 lbs heavy and I found that the most difficult part for me that initial take off when board gets on foil. Once I am on foil, I am fine, but that pumping motion was a big secret to me. I was able to get on ...

I think you need bigger foil when learning. I am using Gong XXL foils, but I am 95kg.

Re: How to Wingsurf - Wing Foil | Your First Session

Great video! Would be great to see next video focused on take off or have some pointers on how to pump more effectively, especially the power transfer from the wing to the board. That tip about rear foot position is very useful.

Re: Self launching

When I self launch, I always unhook. I just hold the chicken loop in one hand, go upwind and rotate the kite using rear line with the second hand. When kite starts standing up on the wing tip, I make two steps downwind and let go the rear line. At this point the kite in on its tip and I am holding o...

Re: The Safety Topic: please post your experience and advice!

Herman, I am just presenting a method that I think is safer in most circumstances and explaining why I think it's better. Of course, it's not my intention to force anyone to do anything they don't want to. The main point is, if you are caught by surprise, just by letting the chicken loop go and you...

Re: kite loop radius for gybe to toe

I am learning to gybe on foil and this thread has a lot of great info. If you look at Doutone frame photo, then you can see that kite is still points to the same direction up to frame #8, the kiter in frame #8 has finished the stance change and started carving in frame #8. Yes, the kite started the ...

Re: Duotone trust bar 24m on a Gong strutless?

I have a Gong strutless, 8m kite and I fly it on Slingshot bar which is a low V. I had to add about 4 inch pigtails to the center lines, so it flies properly. You probably have to play with pigtails too. Let me know what you end up with. Hi Alex, Thanks. How did you notice he was not flying well? a...

Re: Down Loop practice

Hi Preston, Make sure you pull the bar all the way in before you loop it, steer the kite very hard, the bar should be almost parallel with the lines, when kite finish the bottom part and starts climbing, then sheet out. I am doing kiteboarding, snowboarding and landboarding, so I often practice on l...
