Re: Kite Hostels in Nordeste (Ceara), Brazil?

Check out google, tons of options. In Cumbuco Bada Hostel is a good choice. It will be the Kite trip of your life...enjoy! I am in Cumbuco and it’s great! Now we want to visit other places south of Fortaleza like Uruaru, Parajuru, Canoa Quebrada. How do I go there if I don’t have a car? Taxi is too...

Check out google, tons of options. In Cumbuco Bada Hostel is a good choice. It will be the Kite trip of your life...enjoy! I´m checking Google and the typical like booking.com but for some spots no results come up for kite hostels. What I mean is that I want to narrow my search to hostels where I k...

Kite Hostels in Nordeste (Ceara), Brazil?

This weekend I'm leaving to Nordeste (Ceara) in Brazil for 3 weeks. I am in the learning stages and would like to visit at least 5 different places where I can use my 9m and 12m kite. I weight 68kg and don't want to use smaller kites for now. I saw some videos of all the spots and it's just incredib...

Kitesurf boards to learn strapless/wave

I am going to Brazil (Nordeste) next month and I want to learn to ride a strapless kitesurf board. I was able to score a really good condition used shaped board 6´0" x 18" x 2 3/8". But I look at the board and both in shape and thickness seems to be thin. I was thinking of maybe buying a new 2012 Wa...

Re: Would I learn faster by shortening the kite lines?

OK, makes sense. A lot of the stuff you told me I already imagined. It's just that I know a lot of kitesurf schools give students kites with shorter lines but it's probable like you said: just to learn the basics of flying the kite. I'm glad I won't have to shorten them :) Thank you!

Would I learn faster by shortening the kite lines?

I saw this video on how to shorten (folding in half) your kite lines. This apparently removes some power for the kite and allows beginners to learn faster? Link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKkKxSTR3gc How would I shorten the lines on my 2014 Cabrinha Overdrive 1x bar? I´m a beginne...

Re: Used kite exploded in front of me and seller

I intend to buy a 9m cause I'm going to Brazil on holidays to kite for 2 weeks. But I don't want to spend my vacation days fixing my kite at the shop. I told the guy to inflate it cause I wanted to make sure it didn't leak air for at least 2 hours. Turned out that it couldn't even inflate to flying ...

Used kite exploded in front of me and seller

Today I met with the seller of a 2013 Weinmann Hawaii Smoke (9m) kite. The kite seemed in very good condition. No repairs, pinholes, nor damage whatsoever other than a patch on the leading edge done to cover up a slit done to remove the bladder. As the seller inflated the kite we heard a BANG! Suppo...

Re: Trying to understand kite quiver

WOW. That was some insightful information! Thank you. I think it’s pretty clear that a 5m gap wouldn’t be advisable in most cases and even less for me being a beginner. I had a feeling that those wind range charts could be unrealistic and that’s why I reached out to you guys. I was still wondering i...

Trying to understand kite quiver

I’m a beginner and I’m looking for advice on building my kite quiver. I already have a 12m kite. I will travel to Brazil this year and I need to buy a smaller kite to be able to ride in more windy conditions. While doing research I see that most people rarely have a gap wider than 3 meters (maybe 4m...
