Re: Are Carbon Bars worth the extra price?

Short answer, yes. Because none of this bars people are using are tested. Particularly DIY bars. If used in a light wind, fine. But lets say it snaps and sharp pieces end up in the eye? Is it worth risking? I rather risk a snapped line or whatever. I'm sure bike industry can afford testing...Just r...

Re: 15 Manufacturers Advance To Factory Inspections In IKA Formula Kite Registered Series Production Scheme For Paris 20

Optimist dingys are one design, low tech by design, hence less expensive. You want least expensive accessible racing? The authority could have a one design competition. Box rule that reduces need for expensive manufacturing and materials. Foil and mast, maximum 1000€. Kites 3 or 4 sizes, maximum co...

Re: IKA SNAFU

Well said bigcan but you can't stop progress and other manufacturers will soon catch up or come up with new or better solutions and in a few years what is a secret now will be common knowledge or obsolete. It happens in all trades. ML could be left with a "has been" design and no Olympics (not that...

Re: 3D printed bar inserts?

I’m thinking about printing bar center inserts (for power lines to run through) for carbon bars. Has anybody been doing this? If so, is it a worthwhile and is there a preferred material? I’m expecting wear to be an issue, so would make something that is easily replaceable. It is possible, but It wa...

Re: Are Carbon Bars worth the extra price?

I am building my own bars for as little as 40 EUR each without lines. Inspired by the Kauper Bar, with backline adjuster (little knots) - which is working fine (I don't adjust while driving, only if needed with kite in parking position). I like having a very long depower of 60-70 cm for safety in g...

Get the Moses.
Cabrinha wings are cracking due to quality problems, plus the moses are much more flexible due to the amount of options you have.

Re: Racing on non-IKA equipment

Hi, I was the one who said that, and actually they dont prevent you from lining up and completing the circuit, but they Disqualify all your results which is frustrating. It is silly but it is what it is, so we have a lot of people abstaining from participating in these events which results in a smal...

Re: Using G&B AR-99 Dyneema for linesets?

Hi, I've got both Premium Ropes SK99 (0,95€/meter) and Liros DC-Pro 401 (1,19€/). I rather go for Liros, definitely stiffer. On a 22m lines set it's only about 20 euro difference. where did you manage to get the Liros from? I ve fone a few Bars with Marlow, they have two types, Kiteline which is SK...
