Re: Ozone edge V9 vs North Rebel vs Eleveight RS

In order of most to least accessible for a beginner: RS, Rebel, Edge. RS and Rebel are great progression kites while the Edge is a more demanding ride. But all three kites can be used by beginners to progress. If i were to recommend just one for a beginner/early-intermediate rider it would be the 3-...

Re: Beginner kite- Core XR5 or Naish Pivot

If your waistharness rides up and/or chafes, then you’ve got the wrong harness. The more you try out the better off you will ultimately be.

Keep a decent core strength, focus on your technique asylu prgress and a waist harness is all you’ll ever need for freeride/freestyle.

Re: Beginner kite- Core XR5 or Naish Pivot

The only kiters I hear rave about their seats are racers, wave riders or older riders who just want to cruise all day. My only gripe with seats is they limit your movement. That, and most beginners drop them for waist options. Guess it depends how ambitious OP is with progressing. But the standard k...

Re: Beginner kite- Core XR5 or Naish Pivot

If you want to jump and learn hooked-in tricks you need to forget about the seat harness and get a hardshell or, of you’re fit, look at softshell. But you need a waist harness. Seats are good for learning but you’ll grow out of it in no time if you’re kiting regularly. Stick with the 15, 12 kite com...

Re: Beginner kite- Core XR5 or Naish Pivot

Thanks for all the advice! One of the main reasons I was leaning towards the XR5 vs Pivot was because where I live, a lot of the time the wind hovers around 15 mph and thought that the Xr5 15m LW would be ideal for those days and then the 12m for the good windy days..the downside with the Naish Piv...

Re: Beginner kite- Core XR5 or Naish Pivot

My comment was directed at bradleygood and I agree with you, it’s not always straight forward buying used gear and yes, there is more risk you’ll get a dud. I’ve had friends get their instructor involved and I’ve helped out a few newbies myself. It’s not complicated, you just have to make sure you ...

Re: Beginner kite- Core XR5 or Naish Pivot

Damn, just says “playback error” when I click. New link please. I’ve had a few tacks on a Pivot and loved it. Responsive, agile and stabile when you need it to be. Definitely a great progression kite and one that both beginners and advanced riders can enjoy equally. For me, that is the holy grail of...

Re: Beginner kite- Core XR5 or Naish Pivot

If only you knew how many people drop half a fortune on all the latest gear only to never use it and then sell it all 18 months later. So many practically unused kites out there that go for 30% off or more. OP: It’s pretty easy to judge whether a used kite is a good deal or not. Check for cuts on th...

Re: Got lofted once

I love when pseudo-good Samaritans chime in with comments that are not in any way relevant or helpful to the OPs question and try to discredit other forum members because they don't agree with their posts. Haha! OP doesn’t recall details of what happened. Who knows, maybe it was gusting +30kts that...
