Re: Duotone Rebel 2020

It depends what you're doing and overall preference. For me: 8m = small bar, small setting - stops it from whipping around the window too quickly 10m = small bar, large setting - for looping to get it around quick enough 12m = small bar, small setting - airstyle (sometimes large) 15m = large bar, la...

Re: 2021 LEI kites for airstyle

I haven't tried the 2021 Rebel, but the 2020 has about 15% more hangtime (my rough estimate) over the previous 2018/2019. It was just a change of materials. For the 2021, I think they lightened it again and added the flex strut for better quicker turning. Very interested to see if they release an SL...

Re: Carbon vs Wood made boards

It is absolutely fascinating how a simple question has degenerated into 17 pages (so far) of useless blah-blah… Has anybody mentioned that Trax Carbon belongs to this special breed of carbon boards where “carbon” is nothing but a marketing gimic? All these carbon “versions” of standard boards are m...

Re: Dealing with a real world death loop in 30 knot conditions

Here's how I do it, and you can do what you want. 1) Death loop. 2) use the QR in 1 second. Maybe 2 seconds. 3) if the kite flags you are good. 4) if the kite continues to loop full release. The reason for the simple plan is that when the shit goes down you can't see shit, you are hurtling through ...

Re: Help a big guy pick out a big board for big air

Then again I'm not sure if there is a universal answer to this. All boards are not equal and there are different personal preferences. Pretty much this. It generally comes down to preference. I always prefer a smaller board and bigger kite. (unless it's borderline coming up to 9m weather, then it's...

Re: Please help to open SA beaches for kitesurfers

Local friend says there were lots of kiters out at Bloubergstrand on Monday without problems, so not sure what is happening. Great forecast for this entire week. DAMN, I miss being there. Saw a couple videos from people there. Definitely a lot of kiters out. Had a look at the Woo boards and plenty ...

Re: Help a big guy pick out a big board for big air

116Kg 50+ bad knee - I've sought the same answer for a number of years. My main board is a C/F Elite 140X42 - Love it! 9m to 13m Had a couple of higher rocker boards for when my knee is bad. I find these to be power-hungry and not engaging enough. I started to ration my time on the water and just s...

Re: Light wind kite

Lawn moving is no jumps or tricks i.e. riding just back and forth in case you did not know like ploughing with hydrofoil. We can probably agree to disagree. If all I had was sub 15kn winds 99% of days, I would give up my TT and take up foiling. If it was less than 10kn, I wouldn't kite at all. Actu...

Re: Help a big guy pick out a big board for big air

... IT FLEXES WHEN ITS SUPPOSED TO BASED ON YOUR WEIGHT, not some 180lb jerk off saying its stiff because they cant physically change it. Anyone says change to smaller board size are either too light or too cocky. Sure you can "hold more power" but f***, you're on a bigger kite based on weight anyw...

Re: Help a big guy pick out a big board for big air

SolarSet, No doubt my technique is (at least) 90% of the problem! I'm trying to address the technique issues with boosting specific lessons from my local kite instructor. If you look through my lineup of current boards, you'll see none are ideal for boosting. When I switched from Switchblades (that...
