Re: new liquid force Phoenix kite teaser

I may have seen one of these being pumped up out of the way of the normal spot and hurriedly taken down to the beach to launch and it looked like a P1-esque “high-performance” kite more than anything else. It clearly said “Phoenix” on it and was in the hands of a LF team rider.

Can but try
Lots of reports on the internet of dakine spreader bar hooks breaking in like 2010-2015, not much since then, though. Maybe they're better now? I'll think about it.

Edit: the hooks were breaking, not the chicken loops they attach too.

Re: What would you do? (Cumbuco coconut kitemare)

If I was the rider, and could hold onto the tree, I'd release the leash and then pull the safety so that the kite was immediately detached from me, and then I'd climb down the tree. I wouldn't pull the safety first because it's almost certainly fouled and I'd rather not put the kite into yet another...

Re: Grinding hook off spreader bar and replacing with soft ropeconnection. Anyone done this?

I meant put your loop on the actual spreader bar, but leave the little bar on to limit the side-to-side slip. I've had a number of Dakine hooks snap, and they're "designed" for load; I personally wouldn't trust that bar. And if you use the spreader bar, it'll make splicing your loop easier and mayb...

I got my little Ronstan loop and test fit it here:

I think I'm just gonna leave it like that and cut the outer part of the hook off. I'm fairly satisfied with that.

Re: Mystic stealth spreader bar with a seat harness?

Very cool, thanks for all the extra detail. I could see how extra width on the spreader could push up into your stomach if you do a squat on the Vega. I was trying to ride it on a strapless foil board and it was difficult to waterstart because I couldn't get my knees close enough to my chest. Not s...

Re: Grinding hook off spreader bar and replacing with soft ropeconnection. Anyone done this?

I took the same spreader bar and cut off the hook, leaving the 'pull down strap' part. Prusik knot with three wraps on either side to attach a BRM style attachment. Multiple wraps on either side keeps it centered and no frictional wear from sliding. I can post a picture tonight. Couldn't be happier...

Re: Tef gel, cooper slip, silicone for bolts

I use Lanocote. Seems to work jsut as well as Tef-gel for preventing corrosion, but is more affordable and less messy.

Re: Mystic stealth spreader bar with a seat harness?

That's odd, the large padding is one of it's attributes and what makes it so comfy for most, it also looks like you have replaced the rope at some time and the pad is now upside down? Mine is also very comfortable. And yes, at some point the pad has been removed and put back on upside down. Lol, I ...
