Re: My Beginner Journal

No doubt things could get fatal real quick. I don't want to dispute that fact at all. But one thing I really enjoy is being by myself at one with what I'm doing in nature. I loved to mountain bike by myself and I loved to surf by myself. There were frequently people around but not with me. I like to...

Re: My Beginner Journal

Good ideas thanks!

I have thought about a mountain board. I can skateboard well and thought it would be fun.

Re: My Beginner Journal

Wondering...so you self launched? How? I would take some time to learn fkying the kite, but not too much. 6 months sounds too long, considering you have more then 1 time per month to go for it. And for sure get lessons next time with your own gear to learn to set it up correctly. If wrong, it can b...

Re: My Beginner Journal

Way to go Bradders! Good to hear you are stoked and enjoying your journey. Couple of things would make me happier; Treble check those lines before launching. Fly the kite in the shallows (away from other kiters/swimmers) it'll hurt less if you get dragged and keep you clear of other beach users. It...

My Beginner Journal

I took my first lesson in mid August in Waves, NC and got up and going both ways strapped into a beginner board. 2 days later I bought used equipment with the intention of getting back into the water down there, but didn't have time. Sent the used kite back and bought a new one a few weeks back. Joi...

Re: Beginner locations in Ocean City, NJ

This past weekend I visited the preserve at Lakes Bay - really cool and beautiful. Used the combo to go thru the gate and had the place all to myself. Really nice location for learning or just easy riding. First day just took a look and then headed into Ocean City, NJ and stopped by Leading Edge Kit...

Re: Beginner kite- Core XR5 or Naish Pivot

Its really fun to get a new kite when you are a beginner! Makes you happy and excited! I just got mine an hour ago! Slingshot wave SST 2017 $599. And my wetsuit last night. O'neill Hyperfreak. $269. Really like both things and am excited to get out there - hopefully this weekend if it is calm enough...

Re: Beginner kite- Core XR5 or Naish Pivot

As a beginner absolutely no need to be splashing out on new kites like these even if $$ is not a concern . It's pointless, buy a good secondhand kite for half the price and when you've gotten some skills and understanding then start searching for a kite that suits . I dunno. I've seen kiters be tak...
