Re: Aspect Ratio versus straps and strapless?

Hi Peter- I did read your post, but not all of the comments. Regarding straps, and I ride strapless, I've found that as I improve my stance gets narrower and narrower. So, if I were to put straps on, my front foot would be correct in the strap position, but my rear foot would be 3-4" too far forward...

Re: Why a Wing Board and a Kite is Awesome for the Lightest Winds

Last year I did quite a bit of riding my wing board w/a kite due to an injured shoulder. You do have to be aware of the hook. I climb on the board the same way I climb onto a surfboard and the hook never touches the board. But that was last year. This year I gave up on the harness altogether. But th...

Re: Early planning board recommendation.

Disagree.... Some boards will get you up on foil a lot earlier, a mix between volume and length and shape and trailing edge rocker and edge shape. You have a really big (2100 cm2) efficient wing, so if you get an efficient board, you are on your way to the earliest possible foiling wingboard IMO. A...

Re: Early planning board recommendation.

Generally speaking no board is early planning, more, it is the foil. As long as the board floats you reasonably, any more volume in the board is just drag and weight. I ride a 40 liter board in low winds at 155 pounds, but I put on a bigger foil. Two pumps with the wing and I'm foiling in 10-12pmh w...

Re: Rodeo Start - sinker Board 34L, rider 92kg

Thanks for posting! That is exactly what I do, although I called it the "modified stink bug" and you called it "rodeo 2.0". Like others have mentioned, the bend in the knees needed to go straight from sitting to kneeling for me and many others is painful and impossible. So by placing the wing and wi...

OK.... I am a bit exaggerating.... So please do Not Take IT too serious....

I have a hard time staying awake most of the time on the kite on foil in all conditions.

So yes, it will become relaxing...

Re: Rodeo Start - sinker Board 34L, rider 92kg

It may really bring a lot of fun to ride a sinker, cause I ride a 20l plus and 0 problems even in light winds, and I doesn't have any problems riding it till 30 knots either. Actually a lot better question than what you might think. I have had boards a tad below my weight, and very short. No good I...

Re: Strapless or straps?

Ok, saw the very brief short jump Ken Adgate made in that FB video. He’s an extremely talented wing and kite foiler, and even that small puddle hop doesn’t look “easy” to me. Anyway thanks for link! I have a bad right knee so strapped in winging (and jumping) would be a very risky proposition for m...

Re: Are monofoils the future of foiling?

I love riding loose foils. But on the same day I go swap out for long fuse foils for speed and carving. Regardless of design, you lose pitch stability the more you shorten the fuse, or distance from front foil to stabilizer. It is really fun to ride loose and squirrely sometimes, but for both kiting...
