Re: Flotation

Recently I had to swim in for the first time in many, many years. I wasn't wearing a pfd or impact vest, kite was Marabou (not LEI), and the board was a SS 42" DC. So out of the three, only one thing could float me in (the board). Do you choose your session gear based upon the possibility of having...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

Just fly some loops when it gets really light. It prevents slack lines without adding lots of pull. When drifting the kite try to fly it really high. I find lines slack more when the kite is low. Also try to ride the waves up and down rather than only shooting down the line... Good tips Rolf, I hop...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

thanks for line diameter advices IMO its essential to keep peaks powered. In my case its not problem because i always rode like that /small powered kite instead big depowered/ This is also my feedback from the peak v1 in 9m that I had for snowkite years ago ; but Tomtom, how is this compatible with...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

... ordered a 5m ! do you confirm I can connect to a standard 4 line bar and forget the 5th 're-ride" line on the peak 4 ? Confirm, I even disconnect internal B safe cross line from kite - because after time it will start deform tip cells. Remember if it flaps you need smaller size. :) I'd say don'...

Re: Flysurfer Peak4 in 5 m2, truly stoked

I asked on the general topic on peak 4 but with non answer yet , so maybe here : I want to buy and test one :-) question is would better suit 4m or 5m in may case (as a tarter since I understand 3 and 4 and 5 are required :-) ); for memory : 63 kg, 1200cm2 Ketos ; my wave kite for highest winds is ...

Re: Flysurfer Peak4 in 5 m2, truly stoked

15-17 - is too much even for 100kg - thus flapping. If it flaps you are on too big kite. Simple as that - thats why you need more sizes than "normal" kite, even though i prefer be on sweetspot on normal kite too /more sizes/. Reason for this is peak canopy cannot maintain integrity with too low AOA...

Re: Are Carbon Bars worth the extra price?

. You're just running a straw man argument downunder. Where are your tests of alloy bars after saltwater exposure? You're making an issue out of nothing. Nobody has come to this thread with copious reports of carbon bars failing yet there are plenty of reports of alloy bars and other alloy componen...

Re: 15 Manufacturers Advance To Factory Inspections In IKA Formula Kite Registered Series Production Scheme For Paris 20

I don't get the problem here. If you want to race with the people who have unlimited resources for the latest high tech gear then you'll have to match them or have some kind of physical advantage. If you want to race at the Olympic level you'll have to do what everyone else does and be good enough ...

Re: Are Carbon Bars worth the extra price?

Short answer, yes. Because none of this bars people are using are tested. Particularly DIY bars. If used in a light wind, fine. But lets say it snaps and sharp pieces end up in the eye? Is it worth risking? I rather risk a snapped line or whatever. I'm sure bike industry can afford testing...Just r...
