Re: Self launch and self land option

Shadyladys tennis ball solution is brilliant. We've been using for about a year a modified electric fence stake. See attached photo. Works well.

Re: Flysurfer is going to beat fishnets? (Release of VMG2)

Thanks Evan, yes they do fold when kiting downwind- not always, but enough to notice- this varies from kite to kite. There is a second connection point and we have tried with some success connecting to this second connection point in the last 1/4 of the wing tip. One of us has had the time and incli...

Re: Flysurfer is going to beat fishnets? (Release of VMG2)

Several of us are flying these puppies down her in Aotearoa. Awesome kites. Seem to fly faster and higher, with bigger wind range than ABCZ bridled kites. But wing tip fold is a problem we're grappling with. How are other VMG2 users fixing this issue?

Re: foil kite catcher

Your right- It would be a lot of strain on the lines of the stake was concerted into the ground & you continued to power the kite up. One time I did do that & the kite tore the stake & the two sandbags up in the air with it- not a good situation! As soon as you hook a line you have to push the bar a...

Re: foil kite catcher

I have been testing my umbrella catcher this winter. It works well, & on a deserted beach in 20kts gives me a level of confidence I can safely finish my session. I’ve shared it with a friend of mine down country who kites alone a lot as well and we have both tested several permutations on the umbrel...

Re: foil kite catcher

BRILLIANT! Thanks for sharing. I’m going to make one & test at my local beach. At the moment I park my kite in a largish shrub then spend 20 minutes untangling the kite lines from all the branches.

Self Landing Foilkites in 20+kts

Self Landing Foil Kites in 20+kts Easy enough when someone is there to catch the wing tip but when no one is there as I see it there are 4 options: Drop to side of window and sprint down wind to where the kite will tumble, then spend the next 40 minutes unravelling the bridal lines and picking the s...
