How to design a foilkite basics/Surfplan tutorial video

Hi guys, Many people these days interested in foilkite design/wanting to make their own kites having more time at home in lockdowns. The biggest difficulty found often is how to sew and how to design a foilkite of course. I was asked often and so I tried to make a video explaining the basic parts of...

Re: DIY Foil Kites

Hi Rein, Nice! Then we will see it in the air quite soon? Am really interested how it works out with the higher AR. I might as well be tempted to try some higher AR kites in the future. I ordered directly at Liros as I am sort of a retailer with my small sailmaking loft. I can send you some lines. I...

Re: DIY Foil Kites

Nice to see some activity here again. Also started the center section of my new 6m. I split the kite in-between every vent. Thereby I can attach the vents to the ribs and work from the vent to both sides. First sewing the upper and lower skin panels incl. straps together before sewing in the profile...

Re: Kit is becoming too expensive

If you look at most foil kites, I think the second hand situation is a lot different. Firstly as it's apparently really hard to design a good kite and the market is smaller there is only a few brands specialising on foil kites. The main two brands (Flysurfer and Ozone) both have comparatively long c...

Re: Wing profile info for backyard hydrofoil builders

I doubt you will be fast enough encountering cavitation no matter what profile you are using (45-50kts) so it doesn´t matter IMO. Or do you mean separation or ventilation (often confused with cavitation). Cavitation means the pressure on the suction (upper) side of the foil is so low that the water ...

Re: Race Bar Lines

I would recommend Liros DC Pro for racing lines.
201 or 161 for steering lines and 301 for power lines if you want to go thin, 301 and 401 for a bit more safety.

Liros is reasonable priced, and really good quality/long life.

Re: Flysurfer Soul

When extending at primary bridle level (closest canopy to the kite) I always have some little connection lines with me from Liros DSL in different lengths. You can do the same when working at mixer level but with a slightly stronger line like a uncovered dyneema 1.5-3mm, old but good looking flying ...
