Re: Will this foil?

Also tried my 1460mm span 1600 cm2 pumpfoil with a 9m foilkite in 6 knots, it just takes forever to tilt it down when waterstarting because of the span once youre up and over the foil it is okay but the turns are really wide so you have to really know what to do with the kite in the meantime. Also t...

Re: Will this foil?

Its probably too big, once up you gain s lot of speed with kite and have a lot power on tap, but this foil is not made for those sort of speeds and weight (Im talking about 15-20knots so normal kitefoiling freeride speeds nothing crazy) so it will be hard to control and keep it in the water. Probabl...

Re: Ground effect and hydrofoiling

Yes ground effect applies, I did some CFD simulation on a pumpfoil I designed and it was really remarkable. You can also feel it in the real world really well if you have the right gear and conditions. At our homespot we have a 30-40cm shallow sandbank which is about 50 m long and just sand without ...

Re: Help with Sabfoil 671 and Stab 399. Buy or Not Buy

From what you describe as your riding style the 671 is definetely too small/racy. it is fun when the conditions are right (no seaweed etc.) and it can be an allround wing when you get used to it but of you like maneuvers turns waveriding at slower speeds there are definetly more suited wings for tha...

Re: Bigger stabs better for pumping?

Theoretically you have two phases in Pumping: "Downpump" Here you want to generate maximum thrust py pushing down the foil hence increasing the apparent AoA of the foil. Maximum thrust is a combination of maximum lift at low drag High lift is a function of high AoA, a big span, a highly cambered fro...

Re: Sabfoil 699 vs 799 for kite foil

Yep, Can confirm! I am 75 kg and using the 799 with new 425 flat stab and old 425 race stab as well as having tried it with 483 and 370. It's a huge difference with what stab you run it, 483 is as described above... Slow and shoots out of the water with a hell lot front foot perssure. 425 (flat) is ...

Re: Has anyone kite foiled on the new downwind "needle" boards

the important question though is: Does a small size (95L) barracuda style board stay on its side with the help of footstraps and a grabhandle at the rail maybe for kite waterstart without the hassle of doing a wing style knee start but with a kite which I imagine especially in light winds or big wa...

Re: Has anyone kite foiled on the new downwind "needle" boards

Am a bit tired of swimming large distances in summer when wind drops below 3-4 knots and I have to self rescue the big 16m foilkite. Not that I don't like swimming but girlfriend and mates on shore often worry or have to wait :D How hard would it be to ride close to shore when it blows 3-4 knots? I...

Has anyone kite foiled on the new downwind "needle" boards

I was planning to build a kind of expedition board for kite foiling a bit inspired by this canadian guy on the forum who travels the great lakes kitefoiling with that yellow SUP style board which he can paddle in and out if wind drops or is offshore, launching kite from the board in the water someti...
