Re: DIY Foil Kites

I would say yes, to a point. First of all there´s two effective measures: 1. increasing the area between the camber line and chord line but staying at the same max. camber. That is what you do with the bridle effectively just built in the profile. So the disatvantage, it has a far bigger impact on l...

Re: DIY Foil Kites

Ok, I was a bit puzzled about this but then I saw you have doubled attachment points in B-C. That is nice for tests but you could have done it more, further apart from each other. I've also tested different A line row locations but I couldn't find any difference so about 10% seems to work well. Yes...

Re: DIY Foil Kites

Little update from my little diy kite studio here in Kiel: Continuing here on my 9m in the evenings after studies/work. It's basically a scaled up version of the 6m which works fine and I use on the water now regularly so not much new technical features to discuss about. Only changes: Ribs, D-Ribs a...

Re: Soul V2?

Looking at bridal design and pulleys it seems as if depowering kite is changing kite angle of attack, this affects kite position in WW and affects shape but I think it starts with change of angle and rest of are consequences not causes. Thanks! Yes AoA change and also camber is induced by the mixer...

Re: Soul V2?

Anyone knows how that reduction in projected area when depowered is being done technically/physically?
Something with the towpoints far outside?

Re: Soul V2?

Yup you're right, I assumed the wrong vent to be the middle one. If I count correctly they reduced cellcount from 41 to 35 in the 12m size. Balooning still looks very nice, so its gonna be maybe a 150 grams lighter or so if the fabric weight stayed the same. Also at least 8 lines less in the bridle ...

Also at least 8 lines less in the bridle probably. I doubt though that they went remarkably if at all high...

Re: DIY Foil Kites

IDK if you have much or at all experience with LEI's but they are easier because they sit deeper in WW. Single skin structure allows more grunt, back stalling later (or not at all) and recovering it faster. Small foil kite needs much more kite skill, you have to be able to feel what kite wants to k...

Re: DIY Foil Kites

Nice work Rein, as always! Looking forward to some HF footage! The 6m now works really well, a bit adjustment at the bar so it stalls a bit further down the bar throw so I don´t do it accidentally and good to go for this season. Meanwhile started working on the 9m version. Video, or it didn´t happen...

Re: Single Skin comparison

Not a kite but niviuk among others have a lot of different and interesting glider SS/Hybrid products which could trickle down/ being tested in kiting
