Re: Learning on a small board

I learned on a borrowed liquid-force galaxy and a naish thrust large. I later on bought an all-carbon Chinese hydrofoil from a company named Rupel, and paired it with very nice used 5'6" pase 5 wakefoil that my friend gave me a great deal on. Shortly after getting my gear, maybe 3 months, I had a su...

Re: I'm not convinced (but want to be)

I'm no expert, but in dead-onshore with shore-break it is often easier to drag out and then start. Sometimes in some places you can find a rip-current in these conditions. That is the spot to get out. It doesn't have to be a swimmer-murdering rip-current... Just a bit of help out through an area wit...

Re: Anyone make a production board like this?

I'm interested to know who, please post the info. We have a local guy here in SW Florida who does beautiful custom work named John Triton. I used to make a bunch of stuff, mostly twin-tips, but I pretty much quit trying to sell anything about 12-14 years ago. The last few years I don't even really h...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

I always thought that the standard method for wrap-up was to drag one wing tip up wind, drop a bit of sand on it, then grab the downwind wing tip and fold the kite in half, taking care so that all the upper bridle lines are inside the canopy. Then just loosely roll the collected tips up toward the c...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

Maybe there could be solution for Peak4 stop of flapping? https://kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=197&t=2407199&p=1104979#p1104979 The best solution is rig a smaller size. If you just see the trailing edge flapping a bit, that's no big deal. But if you are hearing it and find it annoying, then you wi...

Re: what are you workin on? kitefoil strapless freestyle progression

I'm still a bit kooky on my foilboard, but I have learned to sit down when things get so exciting that I just can't stand it anymore. One of my friends made fun of me for doing this. "What's the point?" He said. Well, it's fun. Recently I learned to stand back up again. Another friend, who is years ...

Re: Low tech freeride foils

Although in some cases, wood can have properties that rival carbon (fatigue, for example, and also a very good strength to weight ratio in a good application) Good wood is not cheap anymore. Then there is what it costs to manufacture a product. It is much easier to squirt some chemicals into a mould...

Re: Help! How to repair a cracked foil wing?

Its just superficial damage and you can fix it with epoxy thickened up with some microballons or similar filler. If there were any movement when squeezed, then you should pry it open a bit, get some epoxy in there and clamp it tightly back into shape before applying any filler. I just did a similar ...

Re: What are little (Carbon) foils made of?

It looks like that one only has a token layer of carbon. You should send a love note to the marketing guys.🤑 Is that Moses? Which product is that? It looks like the entire core is glass with a bunch of filler under the leading edge? 😳 Ok, i see from the other thread that this is an older product. I'...
