Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

Sounds like maybe you were overpowered. The lower leading edge tends to fold toward the trailing edge if you depower too much. Sheeting in regains control but it might be more power than you can handle. At this point the kite will be flapping a lot and you would probably be better off on a smaller k...

Re: What determines a bar's "feel"?

"Horns" on the bar ends will affect the feel.

Re: FS Soul Bridal Wear

The older Flysurfers used Ronstan kite blocks, I think, or something similar. My Peak 4s have something similar, but I know it is not Ronstan.. I went through a few sets of those pulleys on my Speed 1s. Lots of other kites use those pulleys or something similar. They last way longer if you can manag...

Re: How Long Does A Harness Last

Mi Warrior harness is almost 10 yo I think mine is 12 years old or something, still looking great. I'm thinking about replacing it because I'd like to try a hard shell. But from the looks of it, I think it could definitely reach 15 years. Mystic Warrior II. I have one I bought in 2008 and used all ...

Re: How do you handle groupies at your spot?

Having grown up jn Wisconsin, I have done cow tipping a few times.

I never gave them any more than a bit of pocket change as generally the service was sub-par.

Consider for a moment that cows like music, so that might be a possible solution:

Re: Any interest in eeeeee foils?

I got to try out the Lift e-foil a week or two ago, but at 45, I have not yet even spent 12 grand on an automobile. Its tons of fun, with some previous hydrofoil experience and a few minutes of instruction I got up and riding around on my second or third attempt. But the price! Even here in SW Flori...

Re: Does this wing make my butt look fat?

I wonder if switching to a smaller foil would also be an option.

Re: Custom Surfboard

Hey BWD, your example looks somewhat similar to the old Slingshot spacepickle: I totally loved that board for light wind and the for the usual mushy wind-chop generated shore-break we get here on the west coast of Florida. That thing could fly upwind on a kite a size smaller than everyone else was r...

Re: Best materials to make fins from?

I misread and thought surf fins in my initial reply. Not so big of a performance difference with normal size twintip fins, except of course as Poacher said they tend get pretty crappy pretty quickly if they touch bottom.

Re: Best materials to make fins from?

Even with "fiber reinforcement", injected plastic is cheap junk.

Assuming you get a good size/shape, you will see improvement by switching to just any set of g-10. Foam or wood-core epoxy fiberglass fins are good too.
