Re: Is this a kiteboard or wall art?

If you have 2-screw fins or the higher quality one-screw fins, where you can remove the studs, just tape a piece of 60 grit sandpaper down on the approximate mounting spot and grind them down to match the rocker. I used to do it all the time to get wakeboard fins to fit properly on the low-rocker ki...

Re: We lost a brother today...be careful out there

I was out once, years ago, where something similar happened. In my case, I was out snowboarding on a frozen lake, and it was only because I could literally see a white wall of debris moving rapidly toward me, that I had any idea at all that something was about to happen. Always keep an eye on what’s...

Re: Kiteboarder meets Needlefish

This event is unusual, but not unheard of. Probably close to the same chances you've got of being struck by lightning, or killed by a shark. Of course, ....If you put yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time, your chances go way up. But in this case, how could you possibly know? Best wishes for...

Re: help with turns

The thing that helped most for me at that stage in my learning progression, was don't look at the kite and always keep one eye on the water so that you can judge where you need to keep the foil located (in the water) and how hard you can turn. I also agree very much with Leeuwen's advice. You do not...

Re: 144m longest lines in the world kite ride - WR

I sort of had an idea about the upwind and jumping based on my very old experience with now very outdated gear.

I found I was able to get airborne, but every jump I managed was very low and very long.

Might be the way to rig if you want to set a record for the longest dark-slide or Jesus walk.... 🤔

Re: 144m longest lines in the world kite ride - WR

What angle can you get upwind, and how's that work for jumping? I tried a double line set once with my 16 meter Flysurfer Warrior. It was on Lake Michigan, on one of those days when the water was cold but the wind was warm, and you could see the wind line way out, but there was practically zero wind...

Re: Would you replace this flying line?

Pigtails and even the center line are usually way over what's needed, and it might be okay to let them get a little ratty looking...

But flying lines, if they are not looking good, then you need to think about replacing them ASAP.

Re: kitesurfing insurance

All insurance is a scam. That's what makes it profitable.

In the case where it is not profitable, insurance will not be available. The situation here in the state of Florida is a case in point.

Good luck!

Re: Flysurfer Peak 5 is here

On low end riding, I always loop the kite to start, but it takes a bit of touch to figure out how hard you can sheet in on the kite without choking it off. Really light wind, I might loop the kite three times to start, but in ideal wind, only once. When you loop the kite, you want to make the loop b...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 5 is here

Big foil is fine if you just want to cruise with low power, but if the board is to big it becomes very hard to get up on. You want a board that is easy to sink the rail a bit until you get the hydrofoil moving. Then it's easier to get positioned and set up to get your ass up over the board. I’m no e...
