Re: Hydrofoil bolts

For sure it's the wrong hardware.

And in the photo the bolts look undersized.

Though it's not a sure thing, I would not be surprised if the mounting tracks are damaged.

Re: Flysurfer Peak 5

I'm still enjoying the overall simplicity of the Peaks and the smaller sizes are so much fun to fly in their sweet spots! If I had to pick, the 4m is my favorite. And the 8m is my least - but it has saved me numerous times when the wind was not enough for the 6m. Not sure what I would replace the 8...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 5

At around 84kg. and still on Peak4s, I disagree. 11-12 knots minimum for the 5 meter if you want to ride knee-high plus waves, and at the bottom end you might have to work a bit. I ride the 633, and I don't think the board makes much difference once you become proficient enough to get on foil immedi...

Re: Twin tip repair

It's not a structurally critical area by any means. If it were my board, or even one a friend sent to me to repair, I'd probably just clean it up a bit, plus maybe a tiny bit of sanding on the edges, if possible. Then mask around it, _very gently_ pry it open a bit, force some epoxy in there, lightl...

Re: Kite Seat Harnesses

I had the Dakine Fusion way back when, not long after I began kitesurfing ... It had sort of a middle-of-the range hook-height back then... When I switched to the Dakine Pyro waist, which was all the rage in the early 2000s, I eventually began switching it out with a Pro Limit seat harness whenever ...

Re: Kite Seat Harnes

It’s interesting that in all this discussion no one has yet mentioned the differences in hook height between waist and seat harnesses. A waist harness puts the hook closer to your center of mass, so generally it’s a much better choice for freestyle tricks where one might wish to rotate around one’s ...

Re: Bar for foiling

With my Peak4 kites in sizes 3-11 meter I get the full range of the kite by sheeting on the bar. Pulling the trim strap in just makes the kite flap more when overpowered. It's better to oversheet the kite a bit, or better yet to switch to a smaller size. So, the trim-strap is just unnecessary weight...

Re: 20m LEI Kites - Its Time

… And it’s a bit weird that none of them chime in after nearly eighty pages… or maybe they know enough to remain silent? You can already get a foil kite that approximates what is demanded in this thread, but so far market forces leave kites like that to hydrofoil racers and nutty foil-kite-type-ride...

Re: 20m LEI Kites - Its Time

Edge is a high aspect kite, and typically such designs get better range wiith the disadvantage of suffering on the low-end This new type of extra-big lei kite will probably require a specifically-tailored design and quite a bit of engineering and testing. I still doubt it is possible to create an ac...
