Re: Risk of a knot v risk of knot removal

A simple knot reduces the line strength to maybe 60% of its original value. It also shortens the line, Removing a knot is easy.. I am the expert around here. I have removed many knots and it never takes me longer than two minutes. The secret?.. small long nose pliers that I use to pull the knot apa...

Re: worn PU tubes

Of course that's possible, but how should I rig it safely when the safety line was previously running down alongside the sheathed center line to the secondary release that goes through the chicken loop? It seems like that basic design requires the tubing in order to ensure both lines can operate ind...

Re: worn PU tubes

I have the same problem with a 2013 cabrinha bar.

In 2015, replacement parts were unavailable and it has been sitting in a closet ever since.

It’s pretty sad that manufacturers can’t seem to support their products once they are only a few years old.

But surely, someone makes an adaptable part?

Re: Predictions for Ram Airs in 2021

Probably the main reason we don't use rigid wings is that they are fragile.

It's interesting that one of the very first commercial designs for kitesurfing was a rigid frame kite; Cory Roseler's Kiteski.

Re: Kite sugestions for foiling in 15 knots

Peak 4 is a wave kite, and not very good for much else, except of course, alpine skiing.

I’d guess you could probably drop from your soul 12 down to a soul 8.

The haters are gonna hate. The one piece of advice I regret not taking is , it's better to regret something you have done, than to regret something you haven't done!

Re: What size directional board?

Get a short very wide board, swallow your pride, and use it with a smaller kite, and you might progress much faster. In mushy blown-out chop, at 82 kg I can ride the old Slingshot Space Pickle in over 25 knots. In those conditions, it gets choppy. No problem. Just take it slower, get way the hell up...

Re: Board shorts?

With a few exceptions, I'm in board shorts every day for almost a month now, and I won't have to worry about how fancy I look for at least another 4 months....

Re: Board shorts?

The fact is that this trend came into fashion closer to 19-20 years ago. I follow it off and on, depending on whether or not I have split the crotch in my current wetsuit. If anyone remembers, there was a brief period where kite pants also came into fashion, probably for the same reason... no briefs.

Re: Self launch and self land option

I find this thread very interesting, I used foil kites from right when I started out and for many years afterwards. I really liked Flysurfer kites for a long time, and for a long time, in my experience, starting with the warrior, through the psycho 2 and up into the speed (1, I guess), landing was a...
