Re: Gin Marabou Water Relaunchable Single Skin

6 Meter works for me on the Alaia strapless rocking upwind in 20-25 knots flat water. I can’t imagine this is the best use for this kite but is possible to ride without a foil. I don’t know if it would get me over waves. Downwind is more fun than upwind for sure, and riding straight downwind is eas...

Re: SUPfoil touring

So let's call Hawaiian style an "open ocean downwinder" and come up with a different name for my idea. "Coastal downwinder"? "Down sweller"? (Because there doesn't need to be wind, just waves?) 2. Is is possible to do a coastal downwinder while staying (mostly) up on foil? 3. Is is possible to do a...

Re: Kiteboarding in San Juan in June/July

depends how you define "better" i've rented in ocean park... has gated area so not as crowded but also not as convenient concerning restaurants . isla verde is more touristy, imo(and beach is more popular)..but i've never stayed there. it SEEMED like there were more kiters at ocean park and more win...

Re: Offshore windshift ---> Lost Kite

So I have actually done this, sort of. I wrote it up for KiteForum a few years ago, but briefly, was riding in sideshore conditions doing long gybes in and out on a downwinder and my 16m old Bularoo lost the main valve somewhat less than a mile offshore. I coiled up my lines and released the kite (...

Re: Flysurfer Soul

I feel foils are far superior for launch and landing than LEI. They definitely require more skill to fly and in general. I guess you need to weigh the benefits. I can actually enjoy the difficultly more. More challenge makes it less boring. In some regard I am tempted to surf with a race kite lol. ...

Re: 24" Bar for Foiling

interesting you say "odd sizes"...

i've always used 60 or 65cm kite bars

my 55cm is the small "travel" bar. (only purchased that size because i wanted something to hopefully fit in a carry-on)

Re: now foil kiters are saying their kites drift better

i was being polite saying " well.." just my opionion but the wave 4.5 is the best drifting kite i've personally flown. (and i own and fly a peak4 frequently) the CA wave also holds/stays at apex better....and it relaunches very well (more or less on its own) also my opinion.. because of poor re...
