Re: Puerto Rico - Las Picuas questions

Toby - thanks for the info, yes I've seen the videos really hoping to get to experience it as well!

Darippah, yes I actually scheduled my PCR test today for next week (I'm vaxxed), hoping the process through the airport isn't too much of a pain.

Puerto Rico - Las Picuas questions

Hi all, I'm visiting PR for 4-5 days next weekend (traveling down 1/28). Will be staying in the Ocean Park area and may try to get some sessions in that area but I'm most interested in hopefully catching a session or two at Las Picuas. Couple of quick questions: i) Have looked at the aerial pics tha...

Re: Traveling with a kite anchor (metal)

Don’t bring it at all. Learn to self-launch/land on land and water. Friends of mine insist on anchor-launch and landing and for one they’re hogging a beach for too long with that thing and second - I’m not sure they can launch/land without it. HIstorically I've self launched numerous times (drift l...

Traveling with a kite anchor (metal)

HI all, I'm planning on heading down to Puerto Rico for 4-5 days in mid February to hopefully get several sessions in. I recently purchased an ION TEC 165cm Gearbag to bring all my gear. I am headed down solo and would like to bring a kite anchor I picked up recently (love it for solo launching). Se...

Re: South Padre - June/July

Agreed with beebad above - reach out to Brett at Prokite. Great group of guys and they can help with whatever you need. In addition to the excellent flat water riding on the flats everything on the island is pretty cheap as compared to other destinations.

Re: Hatteras - downwinder guides

If I'm recalling correctly we launched at Baldwin Beach Park just up from Sprecks - and yeah my guide was pretty clear about the two mile rule - I saw a big dark object coming through the water at one point when we were way offshore and was relieved when I saw it was a large turtle as I know Maui is...

Re: Hatteras - downwinder guides

Appreciate the responses guys! Sounds like making some friends on the fly at any of the spots is probably the way to go. Since I'll only have 3 days for riding I was looking at renting gear from Kitty Hawk Kites in Rodanthe and it looks like there could be good opportunity to link up with some peopl...

Hatteras - downwinder guides

Hey guys, I was curious if any of the schools/kite clubs down in Hatteras offer a 'supervised' downwinder of sorts? I'm heading down for a few days toward the end of July and, conditions permitting, would love to run Planet of the Apes. Unfortunately I've yet to be able to to convince my snowboardin...
