Re: kiting after a hernia operation

Had stomach hernia operation this year. NHS guide recommends 4 weeks before any heavy lifting. Went kiting then all good with shorts, no waist harness for a while.

Harness Connection from Twintip to Strapless

Currently using the Slingshot Talon as a chicken loop for strapless on a waist harness via a slider rope. However, when I use the same bar on Ion shorts for twin tip sessions the smaller Talon will not fit over the hook. Not happy about resetting the standard chicken loop every time or not using the...

Re: First Kite - Switchblade or Rally?

Between 2015 and 2020 had Rally's and my buddy had switchblades, and we had many sessions together. Rally has a better bottom end, which means it gets going earlier and you can do tricks before the Switchblade gets going. That said, you can hold onto the Switchblade in much higher winds, also it has...

Re: 20m LEI Kites - Its Time

Had a go on a 30m monster in 2006, think it was a X3 Naish. Very slow in around 10 knots, but pulled like a train once it was sent and moving. Would never self launch if dropped in that wind, tried one jump in the shallows and it fell out the sky!

Re: What is your oldest kite that you still use?

+1 for the Rally's. 2015 14m for the light winds, 60cm bar 0n 27m lines, although the brutal bar pressure will kill me off before the kite!

Re: Ocean Rodeo Mako

Rode the 150 and the king for a session. Didn't take to the king, but liked the 150. You do need to change your stance slightly but its not a huge difference. If you load it up too much like a standard twin tip the back fin will let go and spin out which surprised me. Goes upwind well however I foun...

Re: Do you need a big kite? A really, really big kite?

Very kind gentleman let me have a go on this 30m monster in 2006. The guy next to the kite is 6ft tall when it was launched it, think is a Naish V3 not sure.

Re: Seat harness or hybrid?

Started on seat harness, then moved to waist buy recent stomach hernia means going back. But decided to try Ion shorts instead and despite some teething issues they are very comfortable and almost as manoeuvrable as a waist harness. But I am only doing basic rotations on twin tip and some strapless ...

Re: Value on Like-new Peter Lynn Bomba 17

Had one in 2004, which was the year it came out. The Bomba was a sturdy kite and should age well if its looked after. Also will fly on standard bar and lines (not old Fone). And I see them online in uk for about £50-90. Not my favourite Peter Lynn kite, had limited wind range and sat too low in the ...
