Re: Self rescue on a 15/18/21 foil kite- advantages of different methods

just do a nice roll-up and chuck it on the board, here is a good example from my wife with a 15m race kite: https://youtu.be/u4KZbssBPFk I went out a few months ago in marginal wind on my 18m, ended up in the water near shore, did a quick rescue/swim and laid the kite out and launched from the land,...

Re: Hybrid vs Marabou2

Yeah marabou2 would work for that situation. They have made them feel similar to a tube kite in many ways (like when you push the bar away is reduces power instead of increasing it like some foil kites) but it will still turn slower than a tube kite, but you get used to that. Also if you ride with a...

Re: Ozon R1 V4 - Jaime Overbeek Edition

Race kites do boost crazy good, but Gin instinct is almost as good for boosting and so much less hassle. I jumped a Diablo v5 race kite once (similar to R1v4 in many ways) in the boring gap between races in about 25kn and i timed it wrong, pendulumed under the kite and it overflew, fell down near me...

Re: R1 V4 vs Chrono V4

I have owned R1v3 and have ridden ChronoV3 and also own Gin Boom (like R1) and Gin Instinct (like chrono). For me the chrono/instinct are so close now to race kite performance that if you aren't racing at national/international level i think the Chrono/Instinct/Sonic are a much better choice for alm...

Re: Hybrid vs Marabou2

I have flown the old marabou and the new marabou and I can assure you the new one is much better. And the main thing improved IMO is the range, the old M1 was very easily overpowered when used with hydrofoil and the new M2 has a much wider range. Having said that I prefer to ride these type of kites...

Re: Self launch and self land option

yeah i meant all 4 lines. i think this could be a really good way to have a safe landing system with you just in case you end up solo landing with a powered up foil kite, which is a big concern for anyone who uses ram-air kites at some point. I also have the idea of crashing the kite into the water ...

Re: Self launch and self land option

Here's two videos from different angles of me landing my Pansh A15 15 meter in 12 to 15 mph winds. Another alternative I was thinking about (but not necessary when looking at the good result of your video , is having a very strong fix point (so already on the beach like a mast or strong anchored in...

Re: Making jibe turns in very light wind

yeah downloop gybe is the go when the wind is light and timing is the key, here is a video of me doing some light wind gybes (starting about half way through the video) with a 10m hybrid kite and 15m lines (note the bar is 60cm - you need a big bar for your 13m and/or pulling the leader if its not c...

Re: 15m Foil... jump height

The US Gin Kites dealer Captain Kirk's rider Leif Given regularly jumps about 20m on foil kites with TT and I seem to recall one of those was on a 15m and yeah always overpowered, check him out on insta for some foil kite boosting.

Re: Gin Marabou v2 reviews ?

Yep. In racing having to do a "wind-in" is exactly as you described, sitting on the board you wind lines on the bar, set the kite on trailing edge, check bridle and then pay it out and pull the front lines and up she goes. This is very common with race kites due to the aspect ratio, with a freeride ...
