Re: Replacing strut bladder

You don't just pull the bladder into the strut. You need to tuck the end in, make a neat bundle with the valve and push it into the strut until the valve+ bundle are through the bladder opening, preferably with an assistant taking up the slack in line. Once the bundle is through the opening the blad...

Re: What causes a strut bladder to herniate?

Sorry I didn't appreciate that you were getting a replacement bladder, You should be able to fit an undamaged or new strut bladder without talc. However, as well as sealing off excess glue,Talc.does lubricate and makes inssrting and seating bladders a little easier but is probably not needed for new...

Re: Gyro stabilized foil

Not looked at this seriously but you could make the craft inherently unstable, ie very maneuverable, then stabalise it with the gyro platform. The tricky bit would be transforming the normal balance control inputs to signal the control surfaces to move for a required manoeuvre? Rather like a militar...

Re: What causes a strut bladder to herniate?

^^+1. When I insert strut bladders I tuck the fat end back into itself as far as the connector valve. This makes it easier to insert and avoid twists. You then pump carefully until you hear the fat end pop back out and then check you can feel it is properly in position by massaging the end od the st...

Re: Recommended Line Length for 3m LEI

Short lines can make the management of some training exercises easier; eg. Identifying the edge of the window prior to launch. However, short lines require more or less the same flying skills, but faster reactions. To learn the kite yourself I would use 20 m lines..and then practice with 9m lines. T...

Re: Chicken Loop & Fireball - Harness Modification

I think the old engineering expression " if it looks wrong it probably is wrong" applies in this case. However assuming the little cross beam is of similar spec to the main hook pillars a simplistic look suggests the horrible looking arrangement should handle the load; and so why is it wrong? It is ...

Re: Nice helmet with space for a neoprene cup/hood

The Gath Gedi may be worth researching. They used to come in large sizes with the option of leaving out some of the anular foam to cater for neoprene helmets. Not sure how relevant this advice is now as mine is quite a few years old.

Re: New control bar front lines shorter than back lines

If you haven't seen a decent vid on how to trim a kite take a look at this, With your long rears you will not be able to find the backstall point by just holding the bar all the way down with trim all out, but if you grab the floaters to pull the bar down you can pull in extra rear line to see how m...

Re: Effect of shorter lines to kite’s high end wind range

I believe a few years back the top racers were getting better vmg using 13 - 17m line sets. Anybody know if this is still the case?
