Re: Slingshot Sentry control bar question

I don’t know the specifics of the bar but it is personal choice on whether to use a stopper ball on a front line flag. Personally I think the benefits of keeping the flying lines clean out weighs the benefits of attaching a stopper but others may disagree. Not using a stopper may mean that you have ...

Re: What causes jellyfishing?

I would not have the temerity to claim to have a cure for such things. Nor do I have the desire to rehearse all I know about, bridle design, pressurised tube bending and buckling or oscillating systems and, in any case, there are too many variables to be one cure for each. In truth I would need to s...

Re: What causes jellyfishing?

Spork I have an old 10.5m Flexi Ion 3, purchased second hand. Always was a bit of a buckler if not carefully flown. Buckling on that one, if anything seemed worse in light winds, probably being cranked hard though. It has got progressively worse, recoverable if only one side loaded, but if both side...

Re: What causes jellyfishing?

To me they are very different and jellyfishing it is not a flappy thing. For example if you look at a round parachute at first deployment you will see it oscillate just like a jellyfish as the springiness of the system settles down. This can also be seen when jumping with some kites, old C kites in ...

Re: What causes jellyfishing?

What is your definition of jellyfishing?

Is it an oscillation with the tips flaring in and out at a particular frequency?

Or is it the leading edge buckling and the tips folding in as the LE kinks, usually occurring when loaded up?

Re: Advice needed please

As said above, depower is almost essential for many kite disciplines. But a bug on decent hard sand is fine with fixed bridles as it has such low rolling resistant. Needs a bit more power than skateboard on tarmac but less than mountain board on sand. There is good synergy between bug and fixed brid...

Re: Core XR5 back lines too tense

If the bar is set properly would it not be better to just lengthen the rear pigs or shorten the front pigs or is this bar just dedicated to one kite?

Re: Advice needed please

Just in case you don’t already know, a bug can be a lot of fun and it is relatively easy to control the power you put through your body. In particular it is easy to ride at the kite to reduce line tension and this can also be done at launch. Also after a bit of experience and with depower kites, you...

Re: At English Natives: difference Roll vs Rotation?

Roll has many meanings. Pilot, gymnast, tyre mechanic will have a different meaning and what about bakers? You have every right to be confused with this sort of roll-play.

Re: On avoiding knee injuries

Regarding strap position for TT: I think your concerns regarding strap set up is perfectly valid. There are cycling stories of riders making minor adjustments to crank length, seat post…etc and then suffering knee injury. As far as TT goes I keep an old (and loved) board which has my datum setting. ...
