Re: A beginners experience

Overall I feel like my outings so far were a great success. I should have went out again yesterday but opted to play racket sports with my wife instead. It will be a waiting game now as we are getting rain and up to 50 degree weather this week. Hope to get new snow again soon. I'm grateful that I ha...

Re: A beginners experience

Second day out. 6” of snow on a 300-acre cow field down the road from my house. 6-9 mph winds, gusts around 12mph, lulls of 0-3 mph. I flew the big kite for about an hour static while sitting down. Practiced all the basics: holding position, one handed, sheeting in (forgive me if I mix up this term...

Re: A beginners experience

First day out . 12-15 mile an hour winds with gusts around 20 mph, and a few inches of fresh snow on the ground. I static flew the 3.5 meter apex and was thoroughly humbled. The power was impressive. I got dragged and slid around on my bottom plenty. I crashed and stalled and flew beyond the window...

A beginners experience

I thought I would write a little bit about my experience as a beginner learning how to snow kite. Maybe it will be helpful to someone else just starting out to know what it is like to be out there trying to learn on your own. A little back ground first. I'm 40 years old, 140 lbs, I've been snowboard...

powerkitesdirect

Does anybody have any experience with the company powerkitesdirect: http://www.powerkitesdirect.com/kite-skiing-apex/ I was planning on buying a kite from them but their website seems a little fishy. Someone from the company spent time giving me advice via email. I feel it is important to support a ...

Re: one bar for multiple kites

Thanks for all the input. I chose the apex series due to price point and quality, entry level depower. Going to be learning with my wife and son and they probably would benefit from something a little more tame. 3.5 meter is a trainer kite/future buggy kite. I am a little concerned about the 8 meter...

Re: one bar for multiple kites

How are the logistics of setting up the lines? Is it as simple as a larks head knot to the bridles? No line length issues etc.? The primary lines stay with the bar and are therefore also shared between kites? Am I thinking about this correctly?

one bar for multiple kites

What do people think about sharing one bar with multiple kites as a way to save some money? I'm just getting started in the sport and will soon own two kites. Most likely both HQ apex v's in the 3.5 meter and the 8 meter. Does it make since to purchase just one bar. In this case the hq "one" bar and...

Re: Maine snow kiting?

Good to know there are at least a handful of people around snow kiting. Maybe we'll meet out on the snow someday. Lately I've been hoping to for one more good day of sailing, but now I'm starting to dream of snow.
