Re: what kind of lubricant should I use on a kite pump?

ok, thx guys. is lithium grease ok, as well? My pump was dying a couple years ago- I blasted it with white lithium grease, no issues. Pumps are $70 US, I wouldn't bother with buying anything else if I had lithium grease in my shed. If it dies, it dies (Drago accent). I'm sure there's more proper lu...

Re: test of Hysper v2 from Sky Country, relaunchable single skin

You'll probably put it in the drink a couple times initially, but it'll pay off once it clicks. Watch for your kite rotation speed in the loops, if you've set the bar up for over sheeting, the loops will have different speeds fully sheeted/vs partially sheeted (and depending on line tension). This c...

Re: test of Hysper v2 from Sky Country, relaunchable single skin

Agreed, comfort with loops required to keep the kite from getting outrun by your foil in med/light wind. You chase the swell, when kite gets further outside the wind window, you pull tight loop (over sheet/steer for a pinwheel or similar no power loop) to keep the kite in front of you. Important to ...

Re: The Hybrid from Flysurfer

Great detailed commentary guys. Makes sense- overlay of the Marabou/Peak 5 is very helpful- didn't realize the profile was so similar.

No options for me to Demo anytime soon, but I don't mind slow rolling my wife until I can figure out what the gameplan is lol.

Re: The Hybrid from Flysurfer

I'm curious, with the increasing options for hybrid single skin kites, if there's a consensus on which is closest to a water relaunching peak (v4/v5). Off the top there's Firefly, Marabou, Alma and Hybrid. Anything come close to having a similar mix of drift/power spike in the loops? Wife is general...

Re: January Maui gear choice

Just finishing up the trip. Brought kitefoil, worked great. On the water half the days, only would've had 1x TT or wing sessions if it weren't for the kitefoil gear. Thanks for the advice! what was your luggage strategy,, I am going in march to florida and i was going to bring my foil and a 100cm d...

Was quite a few days of 'kona' S/SW winds. Which made everything near Kihei open for business (prevailing winds...

January Maui gear choice

Wife's family taking a trip to Kihei in a week or so, only gear space for one sport (kite/wing/kitefoil) looks like. Never been to Hawaii, so from what I gather, January is the weakest month of the year, big swell but still should get some sessions in. So, between kitefoil or wingfoil which would th...

Re: Kitefoil through whitewash and breaking waves

I take this question to mean: how to get past the breaking waves near shore when in onshore conditions? You might find footstraps helpful. Bodydrag out, find a hole to get going. Go slow and if you don't like what you see- backcheck into the wave and keep the foil out of the water if possible. Then ...

Re: Peak 4 - 4m collapse

We were talking about this on the last Peak page haha! Summary: I'd seen it a couple times early on in my 'Peak career' but since I got a broader quiver, didn't find myself being overpowered enough and I forgot about it. The other day I saw it, and got curious about exploring the dynamic, since then...
