Kiting in Palau! I am pretty sure my friend and I are the only two to ever kite in Palau. Think the winds are similar to Guam...only a little lighter. Lots of mangroves and not a lot of sand, but there is some spots. Watch for crocs! The beach near Melekeok (near the new capital) is probably the bes...
Not a snowkiter but lived in Laramie for a couple years. The wind howls! Snow often does not stay on the ground for long in the valleys...think it blows to Nebraska. East of Laramie in the Laramie mountains the snow sticks around for a long time and there is some serious open space. Good XC skiing a...
I am bringing the 14 m for lighter conditions off Kauai and the Big Island. I hope I don't need it on Maui! I was planning on bringing a "golfbag" for the gear and pay for excess weight if I have to. Have you had any negative experiences over there with "Deceiver" bags? When are you coming to the B...
Rick, I would be surprised if you needed the 14. Seems like kite beach either blows pretty hard or not at all (12s or less). Trades have been rockin this summer. Also...I fly inter-island a fair bit and don't get charged. Just make sure they don't classify it as a surfboard. I just tell them the bag...
Agree with bigwave...the bar works great and it is a very flat kite so you get the pros/cons of that. Had another great session today on the 16m one in gusty/squally conditions. I don't think that many adjustments have to be made...but it does take a bit of getting used too. Now it is pretty much th...
Stayed in Tahiti/Moorea last November. Moorea is amazing, Tahiti ok. Kiting was great when it blew (about half the time) and surf was pumping the entire time. On Moorea, we stayed at Hotel Kaveka in Cook's Bay...beautiful. Good luck!
Will be in West Maui in a couple weeks (Kahana). Are there any spots to kite there during the summer? Do the trades wrap around the island at all or is it offshore? I don't really want to drive to Kahului every day to kite (but probably will). Thanks.
When I was a kid it was way windier. I had to walk to school straight into 30 kt winds both ways. It also used to be way hotter, colder, rainier, drier, and snowier.
Trades were blowing today pretty good and with no end in the near future:)
