Rick, I would be surprised if you needed the 14. Seems like kite beach either blows pretty hard or not at all (12s or less). Trades have been rockin this summer. Also...I fly inter-island a fair bit and don't get charged. Just make sure they don't classify it as a surfboard. I just tell them the bag...

Stayed in Tahiti/Moorea last November. Moorea is amazing, Tahiti ok. Kiting was great when it blew (about half the time) and surf was pumping the entire time. On Moorea, we stayed at Hotel Kaveka in Cook's Bay...beautiful. Good luck!

Will be in West Maui in a couple weeks (Kahana). Are there any spots to kite there during the summer? Do the trades wrap around the island at all or is it offshore? I don't really want to drive to Kahului every day to kite (but probably will). Thanks.

When I was a kid it was way windier. I had to walk to school straight into 30 kt winds both ways. It also used to be way hotter, colder, rainier, drier, and snowier.

Trades were blowing today pretty good and with no end in the near future:)
