Re: Pocket Board (HF) Layup Question

The learning is fun. And you learn by doing !
The wood core and plates are Overkill.
Next time drop in 80kg foam under mast, the whole thickness of board. Then use a bit more cf each side instead of the wood stringers.
You can get down to 2,5 kg easy.
Glue in your inserts in glass filled epoxy.

Re: Ozone Hyperlink V2

Today was out on Hyperlink v1 7m on 20 m lines. it was 18-22+ knots. In gusts I was very powered, to limit. Went in and changed down to 15m. Took a few tries to get going, kite zooms to window edge and loses power on water start. Once I had that timing ok, it's very clear how shorter lines make kite...

Re: Going lighter on foil

Look at the board short harnesses. Already 1/2 the bulk and weight of a regular seat or waist harness.

Re: Newb question pre class excercise

I'm nearly 60. Started kiting at 42. It's individual what you need to do. As a beginner, you'll be falling and being yanked by the kite. That means you need to to have core and neck/shoulder strength. Ask yourself if you've been able to take that kind of beating. You'll also be over tensed and not w...

Re: Strapless tack how avoid kipping?

There's a few things that I've learned in this early stage: Kite timing in relation to board turning is critical. Bend knees Look where you are going to go. This one is so basic and important, but surprised how often I don’t. As you come up wind, lean into lines. It's weird and not normal. I have te...

Go ahead, don't get a foil.

You'll never know what you're missing.

Ever have a dream that you can fly ? Well it's close.

Re: Newbie Introduction

I'm nearsighted since childhood. -4.5 I wear 1 day contact lenses. Problem with it while learning is you'll do a lot of faceplants. You might lose a lens. Get some cheap safety glasses ( or expensive ones if you wish) and a strap around your head. Wear a helmet to help keep the glasses on and protec...

Re: Strapless tack how avoid kipping?

Fellows, All I meant was that I can't blame my gear! Hyperlink is super friendly and lots of lift in transition. It was great conditions today on 9 m Hyperlink, the kite I know well. Today I tried to roll behind the lines. After a few tries I almost made it flying. Then on one I was really aggressiv...

Re: Strapless tack how avoid kipping?

Thanks everyone. Seems like 360 / 180is best to try first.
I'm on the best gear: Hyperlink 7-9-13. Moses 633.
But my board is 110 with very little volume..
The surface tack would probably work if I had a big board.
