Any Colorado kiters going to WY tomorrow?

I'm visiting Fort Collins for a few weeks and heard there was a group at Wheatland today. Tomorrow is looking good and I'd like to go. Been kiting quite a few years and have my own gear. Would feel better with some locals around and some launch info. Anyone? I'm down to kite anywhere within 3-4 hour...

Re: Using an air pig as vacuum reservoir

What do you use as a switcher? I use a custom switch built from a 220v 21 amp micro switch and a "flavor injector" syringe that you can buy at stores like kmart or walmart. I have rubber bands pulling the plunger against the switch. When the vacuum overcomes the pull of the bands, it pulls the plun...

Re: Using an air pig as vacuum reservoir

I've been using a 7gal tank and it works great. Pump is on for one minute, off for 15. Makes a big difference.

Re: Cedar Board Layup Advice

I've been building a few cedar strip boards lately. My tips are about 3mm, and the center is only 9-10mm. I've added a 9cm wide strip of hemlock down the center of the board for extra strength around the inserts.. I'm using a 19oz triaxial glass and vacuum bagging, and the boards are still fairly li...

Re: ozone c4 or core gts

Let us know when you find the perfect kite! I'd give you a serious opinion, but I've only flown the C4s. I can vouch for their simplicity, stability in gusts and relaunch. As for light wind it depends on the size. There are better light wind kites out there than the C4s. Core's look nice but ...

Re: Landing with non-kiter help

I'm with the nay-sayers. No one touches my kite or bar without having watched someone else do it a few times, and a minute or two of coaching. Too much risk of injuring the person, myself, or the kite tumbling off. An untrained person's reaction to pull is to hold on tighter - just like beginners do...

I also use the oneill superfreak tropical 2mm. When I'd like to be barefoot, but the beach environment doesn't allow it. Very light with a mesh top, so you feel the water nicely.

Re: How to shoot and edit kiting video

I've found Adobe Premier Elements to be pretty good for the price. It's normally $100, but when I went to buy it, it was on sale for $50! So pretty cheap and functional. Not too technical.

Re: Flying line (dynema) splicing question

Just know that some some lines are a solid braid that can't be spliced this way. You need a hollow braid. I know my slingshot lines are hollow, and my ozones are solid. I recently made some extensions out of slingshot line and spliced one end, and sewed the other. Both seem to be holding up fine.
