Re: Suggestions for pads/straps with maximum foot retention

Gonna have to try that geopeck! It seems to me that the pads make the biggest difference. I have boards with dakine, liquid force, and crazy fly pads/straps. The crazy fly have the best grip and comfort of those three. Thinking of ordering another set for my other boards. Also try different foot pos...

Re: Getting into kiteboarding with my wife

Even so, you should not be practicing with an 8m power kite on land and especially not with 37 mph gusts. You shouldn't be faceplanting on land, you would knock yourself out if you hit something hard. Yeah that's not the time for lessons. Lessons should not be done in extreme conditions, no matter ...

Re: Getting into kiteboarding with my wife

Foils can be nice on the snow, but by no means is a foil required for snow. I used foils only on snow for many years. Two years ago I got into water kiting and have since sold most of my foils and gone to inflatables. I kept my 12m ozone manta 2 because I like it so much, but I would never attempt t...

Re: Getting into kiteboarding with my wife

If you plan to be in the water you want an inflatable kite rather than a foil. Unless you get a Flysurfer or other closed cell foil... But if your budget is small, that's probably not an option. I'm a fan of foils, but inflatables are the only way to go when you're trying to do both. As for size, I ...

Re: Glass over urethane rails

I also ordered one of the 220v adjustable vacuum switched rated for 21 amps from omega.com, and a Robinair vacuum pump. Got tired of borrowing air compressors for the vacuum generator. I will post results when they arrive. Wanted to follow up on this... The Robinair pump works great. I got the 1.5c...

Re: What kind of glue is used to splice kites?

They typically took a few weeks of work in the evenings and weekends. They're all fun to fly but most have their little quirks. The red arc (speed) is a 5.5m that's difficult to launch but once inflated it's really fast and fun. The rasta colored one is a 3m that makes a nice high wind buggy kite. T...

Re: What kind of glue is used to splice kites?

Here are some of the kites that I've built. I used seam stick from kitebuilder.com, mostly to hold curved pieces together for sewing.

Re: Central America Mexico/Costa Rica in Jan/Feb/March

Bahia Salinas in Costa Rica is da bomb in January, and is pretty much just a kite beach. Three different lodging & school options for kiters within walking distance of the beach. Didn't see many tourists at all. Wind every day for 10 days. I wanna go for longer this year. :)
