Re: A new video presenting how the HP struts are made

Hmm.. bends easily, so will need extra bridle support for LE. Another aspect not mentioned - pinhole test. Dune grass, thorns and what not can leave tiny pinholes but kites still hold shape and pressure for hours. Would it be the same for HP? You have way less circumference when reducing diameter (...

Re: High Pressure kite by Bruno Legaignoux

2) Smaller diameter = smaller surface area so less Dacron (linear relationship) you forget the factor pi = 3,141 12 cm have a circumference of 12 X 3,141 = 37,692 cm 8 cm have a circumference of 8 X 3,141 = 25,128 cm No linear relationship By the way the problem up till now was NOT the material but...

Re: High Pressure kite by Bruno Legaignoux

could be interesting to make an experiment: If you reduce the diameter of a hose from 12 to 8 cm. How much PSI do you need to get the same amount of stiffness ?

mmmh, can you explain this ?

way less structural rigidity
:?: :?: :?:
Keep in mind that future tubes will have 5 times more pressure in than today !

Re: High Pressure kite by Bruno Legaignoux

I think many of us would be happy already, if the diameters were 2/3 of the diameters today. :remybussi:

Re: High Pressure kite by Bruno Legaignoux

@ joriws: my kite was just too small in the video as the size is only 3m in 5 Bf. and the sand was´nt really hard. In general we just have to make the kites bigger. We saw the same development in windsurfing in the 80s and 90s: the sails became flatter, easier to handle, faster ... and bigger. The n...

How much pressure the Best Hellfish was designed for?
Was it 12 psi or more?
It was pumped with a normal kite pump. As much as you could get in. So I think it was aproximately 12 PSI.

Re: High Pressure kite by Bruno Legaignoux

I am just wondering why we had to wait more than 20 years for this next step in the kite evolution :duh: :duh:
