Re: Ram airs crash in 2018

Phew. Think I just saved a lot of money by reading this thread. Enough to stop me in my tracks and make me question whether I need a foil kite. All that bridle fussing. I saw a video on adjusting the bridle to counter stretching, yuck. I don’t go enough and was just shopping as a proxy for kitesurf...

Re: Ram airs crash in 2018

the cost (of ram airs is) almost twice the price in many cases for same sized kite… Ram air kites promote elitism, classism, snobbery, the sports fragmentation/ dilution, unaffordability, reduced youth involvement, reduced number of under 40s, planned obsolescence ( bridle stretch / tuning), an unba...

Ram airs crash in 2018

Well, the end of 2018 is nigh. Time for a wrap-up and analysis of the failures of ram air kites this year. Despite a multitude of ridiculous over-the-top CLAIMS from ram lovers, ram airs cRaSHeD. On top of that, one of the world’s most respected kite designers and erstwhile designer for FLYSURFER ,...

Re: Switching from Flysurfer to Lei

This is what Ralf Groesel, a respected kite designer from Flysurfer, said about switching from Flysurfer (ram airs) to LEI. http://www.kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=2400039. Note that he STRONGLY favours inflatables. Ignore the lies. Ignore the propaganda. Ram airs are aerodynamically inferior vs. i...

Re: Switching from Flysurfer to Lei

Anyone here switched from Foil kites to Lei? ... I can’t stand the ground handling when landing, the self landing is near on impossible in any remotely safe way... Congratulations on the move! You won't regret it. Ram airs are inferior in every way compared to inflatables. Everyone who has made the...

Re: Tube vs Softkite - an epic battle?

Pumpy is the trolls troll, someone for Pullstrings to look up to. Typical trolling and abuse from a ram lover. Ram lovers can’t win arguments based on facts, so shoot the messenger. Flysurfer's Ralf Groesl AGREED with ALL of the points I’ve made over the years, withstanding the abuse and hysteria o...

Re: Tube vs Softkite - an epic battle?

Summarising the points from Flysurfer's Ralf Groesl: Interesting blog from Ralf Groesel, kite designer: 1) Ram airs have INFERIOR handling "Now this is where the trouble starts..." 2) Ram airs have INFERIOR jumping and higher drag "Lift in kitesurfing defines the ability to jump high. A Tube-kite pr...

Re: Important Message: I almost died - Gunnar Biniasch

OK, here we go. Ram lovers are going to call this "trolling" and try to get me banned (again), but it MUST be said: Gunnar's choice of ram air kites was instrumental in this near-disaster. Ram air kites were banned from course racing in 2015 because of safety concerns: http://www.kiteforum.com/viewt...

In the time I have been learning and contributing here, I have found Toby to be in the lead of what is pretty much the last free forum on this planet.
I agree. But I think Toby is a bit too tolerant of ram lovers and their propaganda.
