Re: Alternative to brazil, november-december

Hi Langebaan gets busy between Dec 27 and mid Feb but even then if you get past the schools and crowds near the shore there is usually space in the middle of the lagoon. But everything in life is relative ... it is never as busy as Tarifa in July haha. Witsand is nice but is a long drive from Cape T...

Re: Alternative to brazil, november-december

ape Town. Statistically November is the windiest month (measured as number of days in % above Beaufort 4). There is a flat water lagoon at Langebaan (Shark Bay). Note that the "sharks" here are tiny dogfish, so do not worry haha. November is a great month to visit Cape Town ... the flower are in blo...

Sponsored place for Instagram-savvy rider

It's that time of year when we try to find someone to take up a sponsored place at Cape Town Kite Club. You will ride to a decent standard - maybe a team rider / shop rider or just "pretty good" and you will enjoy going down to the beach with your friends and a camera so you come back with some foot...

Re: North & Duotone - Your Questions Answered by CEO Till Eberle

They are great kites and I am sure they will remain great kites.

As for the name, the first thing I thought of was "fake tan" product. :)

Re: I'll have to change my name now North Kiteboarding is no more..

It all reminds me a bit of when Volkswagen purchased Rolls-Royce (motor cars) from Vickers knowing that the brand name is actually controlled by Rolls-Royce plc (the aero-engine maker) and the latter gets to decide who can and who cannot use the name to produce cars. VW thought they could somehow fo...

Re: Help me understand Cape Town wind on the basis of this Windguru forecast

My observation on Windguru and Cape Town wind is as follows: 1. The wind forecast is generally accurate unless it is the SE (Cape Doctor) forecast to blow. So for example a NW wind forecast is usually spot on 2. If the SE is forecast to be light (up to 17 kts) the forecast is usually accurate. 3. If...

Re: Cape town

We have some space left ... perfect for the traveller who wants to hang out with other kitesurfers and windsurfers, but a big enough house that you can have your own space also. We have 7 rooms (all with their own bathroom) and weekly braais (bbqs), fast internet, kit storage and a bunch of friendly...

Re: Recommendations for a January Foiling vacation

Lots of our guests were foiling last year, but they were mainly doing it in the main bay (ocean) in front of the house rather than Langebaan. They all seemed to be having an amazing time. Couldn't believe from the GPS tracks how far they were able to go upwind. Here is an article Danny Morrice (ex R...

Re: Good luck Caribbean and South Florida

Feeling very sad about Anegada in the BVI. I was there in the BVI for work in May last year and popped over for a few days to work (and kite) there. Beautiful spot. Problem is the highest point on the island is 28 feet above sea level. They had an evacuation but apparently some people stayed behind....

Re: Global Kiteboarding Population

British Kitesports (the governing body in the UK)has about 4,000 members. We try to work out from time to time how many active kiteboarders in the UK are members and how many are not. Our best estimate is that roughly 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 active kiteboarders are members. That puts the number of active k...
