Re: [ Question ] - December Vacation

+1 for Cape Town -- December is usually windy (season starts in October). For flat water, the lagoon at Langebaan is lovely and in the first week in December will not be crowded. Skyscanner has flights on SAA via J'burg for 662EUR. SAA are quite decent on kite luggage I think - but check of course. ...

Re: Would a C kite be dangerous to learn on?

Truth is there is no decent wind for kitesurfing in San Diego.

If I lived there and was into ks I would either move (to SF say) or take up sailing and kite on holiday.

Re: Would a C kite be dangerous to learn on?

Wot Laz said ... learning on C kites is fine. It is nonsense to say don't learn on a kite from 2006. A 2006 Vegas, for example, would be fine to learn on (if its bladders are still good!). Just make sure your bar and lines are in good condition. There are very few bars still around from 2006 that ar...

Re: Ion electric kite pump - talk about ripping people off!

[/quote] What exactly is a "deep water packdown"? That would infer that you are: a) in deep water - meaning you are treading water b) somehow able to "pack down" your gear while treading water with a bar and a board (this is assuming you haven't lost either So you are somehow able to tread water whi...

Re: Ion electric kite pump - talk about ripping people off!

I can see why people sell them. I can't see why people buy them.

If you are not fit enough to pump up your kite, then you are not fit enough to swim in after a deep water packdown.

If you are not fit enough to swim in after a deep water packdown, you shouldn't be out in the first place.

Re: Kitesurfing in the UK. Best spots out of these?

I would add Liverpool/Manchester, Aberystwyth and Bangor to the list. Just like Swansea is good for the Gower beaches, so Liverpool, Manchester and Bangor are all good to the excellent North Wales beaches (Aberdovey, BRS, Rhosneigr ...). Pretty girls and boys everywhere. Pick a uni that has a good r...

Re: New guy here - athletic...few questions

Like they said: - Get lessons first - Then decide about equipment. I would avoid a bundle deal involving lessons + equipment. If you are having trouble booking or feel uncomfortable then try Sam Becker who is a good instructor in your area. I don't have his cell as I connect with him on FB but you c...

Re: Best Boots for Kitesurf

+1 for Ronix falling apart. A good friend who is a bit younger than me got a pair last year ... they were falling apart after a couple of months. That would be fine if they were real cheap, but they were not. Avoid unless you get them super cheap or you are really rich and can afford something that ...

Re: Kite School Insurance

+1 for becoming a British Kitesports school and then using the British Kitesports instructor cover. If you are more than a one man band instructor and have a "school" then Apollo (the BKSA's brokers) can also help with the "school" part of the cover e.g. the mandatory employee liability cover (if yo...

Camber Sands and Poole Harbour in the UK can get pretty busy.
