Re: Liquid Force Proof 151. Is it worth it?

I've got a LF Proof 151 and it worked pretty good for me when I was learning. I felt like I got pretty out of control on it whenever the wind picked up, but I only weigh 155 lbs. I have a 135 x 39 that I use most of the time now, and the 151 doesn't really work all that much better in lighter winds....

Re: 2009 Kite Prices

The other day I went down to the beach and saw two kids hot launching their 2004/2005 C-kites in gusty coniditions. Luckily for them, it was 5 knots gusting to 10 or so, but that was the way they actually thought all kite launches were supposed to go! Anyways, I tried to show them how to launch even...

Snow Kiting on Long Island, NY

Anyone know of a good place to snow kite on Long Island? I'll be up there for the holidays and didn't know if I should bring my kites or not. Doesn't seem to be alot of wide open space there, but I figured I'd try.

Re: Airtime Orange Bladders

I'm really happy with the orange airtime bladder that I got for the LE of my 15m '07 Waroo a few months back. As I remember, they were actually cheaper by a few bucks than the ones from best. I have alot of faith in the u-stick valves because I messed up on the installation, and it's still working g...

Are Fuel prices going to be up this year as much as fuel prices are? :)

Re: How many sessions did it take you to get up and riding?

I got up and rode about 100 feet in my first, three hour lesson (at the end of the 100 feet I dove the kite straight into the water and it flipped over, got tangle, then spent and hour fixing the mess). I probably had the best possible situation though: 15-20 knots, bow kite, big beginner board, pro...

Re: Stupid gas $$, near $4.00..need Enduro bike to go kite

I think this car would be great for kiting: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/hot_lists/high_performance/muscle_cars/2010_pontiac_g8_sport_truck_auto_shows" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and with over 400 horsepower, you can get to the beach twice as fast! I guess you could use tha...

Re: Snowkiting legal in a wilderness area?

I am a staunch believer in designated wilderness areas, but can't see how kiting would negatively affect the environment... I've heard about some environmentalists wanting to ban kiteboarding on the south shore of Long Island because the piping plovers (little sea birds) think that the kite is a la...

Doesn't seem to practical to me. I've spent some time in the engine rooms of commercial tankers, and it seemed liked everything was half-broken and leaking all the time. Seems like a computer guided kite needs to be working just right for it to work at all. Probably more useful on a yacht that is we...
