Re: R1 V2 windrange and weight

Not sure if you've seen this, includes all the weights: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://formulakite.com/images/documents/registered%2520kites.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjA547X1cXhAhUJc98KHRxOAWEQFjAAegQICBAC&usg=AOvVaw1T6vQ4s2ATbjkVw-1vfMqR Bar pressure on r1v2 is definitely lighter ...

Re: R1 V2 windrange and weight

like here from people who have used R1 V2 and ideally those who used both kites, Sonic 2 is also a considered but prices still too high untill sonic 3 comes out Cheers In the US, a used Sonic 2 almost half the price of a used R1V2. I just switched my whole quiver from Sonic 2's to R1V2's. I kept lo...

Re: Best pumping foil?

I heard from someone that tried many surf foils that the Delta Surf Foil is the easiest to pump (least effort to pump a given distance). It's a really big wing, but it's not very thick, so drag is less than the other surf wings which are quite thick. I had also heard it can be trickier to stay on a ...

Re: Shimming a tuttle box

Where do you put the aluminum can shim? Wrap it around over the top, or wrap it around the front?

Re: Kite racing line length + harness

Yeah I dont think jumping is a problem for race kites. I've heard higher level racers worried about jumping and messing up their top race kites, but I dont worry about it. I'm not winning races, just having a good time. There is some getting used to short lines. The first time I tried 17m lines on m...

Re: 21m Race Kites

I get the impression that you guys are talking about draggy and slow lower ar foilkites instead of recent 21m race kites. Those are agile and have a huge windrange, although the gap between the 21 and 18 is minimal. True, they are surprisingly agile. Gunnar posted a video recently of him jibing (wi...

Massive difference in low end between 21 and 15m foil kites.

And massive difference in speed, range ... fun.
Are you talking race kites and hydrofoils though?

Re: 21m Race Kites

According to my race mates it does not really give you better low end no. But a hell of a lot better VMG both up and down on the course, in light winds :thumb: Thanks Peter. My gains in low end from 15m to 18m seem fairly small, but I'm going much faster on the 18m when it's light. Makes sense that...

Re: 21m Race Kites

You could also argue that the same trend happened with inflatables (up to 25 m?) Where are they now ? You definitely get to a point of diminishing returns. Flysurfer has had 21m foil kites forever, so I don't think this is a fad. 18m-19m seems to have been the biggest size for inflatables since tho...

21m Race Kites

Most race kites are available in 21m size now. Does it give you noticeably better low end than an 18m race kite? Or does it just allow you to go faster on shorter lines in the same wind? Asking specifically for riding race hydrofoils. From what I've seen, the best absolute low end is on a big surf w...
