are "guests" undercover marketers?

I'm in the market for a new kite and was searching this site for comments. An interesting trend emerges - a devastating claim about a particular brand, and almost always by a "guest." (or rare poster, yes I'm also a rare poster too so there's some irony maybe). Examples: guests posting about bladder...

I once told continental it was a snowboard, despite my destination being florida. I suggest curb check - if they give you trouble, say you'll go inside and then you get a 2nd chance/new person. I also find the double talk/babble approach helpful - pretend you've never heard of kiteboarding and descr...

Sean, Maui is my favorite place world wide. Enjoy it now because I assure you you'll look back on it and wonder how you could not have liked kiting Mecca. I predict you'll go again within a few years after trying other places and finding all have their own shortcomings. As for a more beginner friend...

ex-windsurfers (such as me) need special counseling to start kiting ;-) in windsurfing, it takes years to be able to be good enough that you can hurt yourself, e.g., big jump crashes, getting pummeled by waves wave sailing, ... kiting, day 1 you can kill yourself if you're stupid. windsurfers also d...

i saw a guy get gashed in the head a couple weeks ago - so much blood, i took my leash off and threw it away.

consider your broken leash an omen from the kite gods - leashes are bad!

and body drag upwind is easier than you think.

that's a small board for learning and at your weight - i weigh 165 and my first day staying upwind successfully was when a guy at the beach said here, try my board. i was struggling on a 144 and that board (180 even?) had the main advantage that you can ride slower, with a less powered-up kite, and ...

the way to spot one such as me is -loving the air - I got more air after 20 days of kitesurfing than 7 years of windsurfing, including trips to maui and the gorge -no fear - I've had 7 years of windsurfing fast riding, jumping, and big crashes - bring it on! -for sale sign - anyone want to buy 4 sai...

there's great advice above the big breakthrough for me was riding hooked into the chicken loop vs. the main loop and on a bigger board (i think 165 vs. what i was trying 144). in the main loop and fully powered, every gust would send me way downwind. in the chicken loop you just sheet in/out the rig...
