Thanks for the tips, y'all. I found the "dynamic map" feature/view frees me to go up and down the coast for conditions, which is cool. Trying to choose a launch usually comes down to seeing obs correlation or rejection of the forecast, so that is good. Here in USA I check ndbc.noaa.gov for another s...

I live 1.5 h from spots in one local climate/region (Ches. Bay), 2-2.5h from spots in another (VA beach), and 4+h from OBX. I have gotten skunked a lot less since subscribing -it's easier to make the right call whether, when and where to go. Before I could look at a dozen sites to get good idea of t...

Well I like the service, finally caved in to pay the fee for "fx" (?) service or w/ever it's called. Some of their forecasters are better than others, but overall they do a better job integrating local effects and synoptic events than NWS and others I have seen. Would not pay the rate to get it on t...

SWAT thanks for coming to kiteforum. Kitewing is cool. :thumb: I agree it is a narrower niche, needs: more wind (for water use) more skill more love of speed Having got a couple quotes on these things though I have to disagree on the cost. In the US it's under $1300 for the 7.5m wing. Not really tha...

Agree with Spork. But also, in such a small sport, why could there be so many brands? Easy money has got to be part of the attraction. Not to diminish the challenge of making and marketing ANY technical product. By the way, braid the tubes and use a different way to atttach to canopy, there go your ...

I only live in US in the south where it gets to 90-100 F (30-38C) in summer but have found dark blue and black tubes do heat up a good bit... Leaking depends more on the type of valve -some do, some don't. I agree it is good to have LE and TE different colors. Not really into the doom and gloom colo...

BWD said: like i said in the helix thread, forgive my self quotation: Quote: My personal grail is a delta shaped wing shaped more or less like a kitewing but with no sticks, that could be flown as a kite. IMO we'll be at the next level when someone engineers a kite that can cruise at high speed and ...

Remember from 4 years ago boards with flat bottom, tips, stepped probably 1/4-3/8," then flipped up 2 or more cm toward tips. Kind of exaggerated. Probably thinking of a naish. Intution tells me 3/16-5/16 should be enough to help release without causing problems... Don't know dimensions of more rece...

How was the temperature? Sometimes the valve body gets a little too soft in temperatures around 93-95 deg F, and the kite in sunlight. This can lead to slow leak, faster if there is any stress on the valve by flexing it, getting snagged on something.... Especially if it is the kind of valve with a h...
