Re: surfboard design and keeping the rear foot on the deckpa

Interesting stuff. Thanks 4 the feedback. My stance shifts around. The photo is a frame grab from some gopro shakeycam. I am 6'2 and the wide angle of the camera distorts a bit. When surfing the wave and turning I'm wider. Was also hating life this day. Stuck on a never ending 60km downwinder way wa...

surfboard design and keeping the rear foot on the deckpad

Curious about other experiences out there. I've been going strapless for about 4 years now. Tried/own lots of boards. Mostly thrusters not shaped specifically for kitesurfing. Love it. I have a good board that I am riding a lot at the moment. Thruster setup. Not too much tail rocker medium sized fin...

Re: Serious accident in Netherlands (Wijk aan Zee)

This launch is fine for those kind winds if you like to surf when it nukes. Just not when it's onshore.

Re: Serious accident in Netherlands (Wijk aan Zee)

bad news but seems too much wind even for a 7m kite for sure a kite with a better safety mode (5th line or mini 5th line or backline safety) would be better I stand corrected. It was gusting 60+ knot straight onshore. 5th line is not going to help you much if you mess up even a little. Sounds like ...

Re: Kiting strong frontal wind - do you really want to get h

Like anything in life. You calculate the risk/reward. Best wave/wind days of the year are always during the Fall storms. No dilly dallying on the beach in these conditions. As a rule, gusting >35kn onshore is a no go for me tho.

Re: 2011 Slingshot Rally

2. Is the Rally "enough" better then the Kahoona V2 to justify the price difference? In a short word..yes.Try one, you'll look back at this question and wonder why you ever asked.. Among the "big" brands Slingshot has one of the best built quality/finish , Best the worst. Performance wise it is dow...

Re: Slingshot 2011

I've posted before on pulleys so I'm probably starting to sound like a broken record.. but here I go again. Is it possible to get rid of the pulleys on the RPM bridal? Could 'o' rings work as replacements? How many pulleys does the bridal have (could not find any pics)?

Re: Kiting on short lines - to 10m

From the vid it looks like you like to be very powered up on shorter lines. I prefer being slightly under powered on small kites and a surfboard. (20+ knots on a 18-20 meter lined 5m C with a 6'4 surfboard are the conditions that make me smile.) I wish I could go shorter than 18m as I love the direc...

Re: 2011 Slingshot Rally

Thanks for that slingslut. Not say'n RPM is a bow, just that it is more bow-ish than Rally. Also not say'n RPM is a poor aerodynamic design. It could be relative the Rally, the now 2 year old RPM design is inferior (aerodynamically). That's fine and should be the case two years on. I'm just trying t...
