Re: Shinn Jackson - Sunburner

shinn jackson was not great (kind as I can be) 4 of us at the same spot agree it was poor, 3 of us had bought one, all got rid within a month. this looks like a repainted one. heavy, springboard quality, unstable, try before you buy, I would not recommend this to a friend. sorry mild rant over. Sin...

Re: Shinn Jackson - Sunburner

Board doesn't look very stiff to me but anything stiffer than last years is an improvement.

40 to 60 mm of anodizing ? That's thicker than the mast itself which is probably around 16mm thick. You probably meant microns. That's 0.0015748 of an inch for you Brits :)

Re: FAV certificate needed in Spain?

Tell me which government of which country issued the IKO(for example) certification so it can be validated in another country? None, IK0 is self proclaimed, I think they are based in the Dominican Republic so outside the EU anyway. They have been filling the void in countries without kitesurfing fe...

Nice :thumb: Although the title of this thread made me think there had a been a pile up on the highway involving a BMW, Porsche, Mercedes, and a Volvo driven by a biblical character... I guess you never heard of the Moses 113/657XB/899-22P/4 either? For me the numbers are crystal clear , what I don...

Re: Gear for going fast

To go fast, you need to be well powered up. A foil kite will mostly give you better upwind and downwind angles (especially with shorter lines) and will also allow you to foil in super light winds where inflatables cannot stay in the air maybe a little more speed but it will be minimal. I ride both, ...

Re: Aluminum vs. Carbon Mast and Fusalage

There can be large differences in quality between carbon and aluminum masts. The aluminum mast from Alpine are lighter and stronger than some carbon masts from other brands. :thumb: Good aluminium is better than crap carbon. So many different qualities of carbon and ways to lay it up. Just like bik...

Re: Duck Tack Tutorial (Strapless & Directional Series)

Is that still a duck tack or is that called something else? Using sailboat turning definitions, your board is tacking ( turning up into the wind ) and your body is gybing ( turning down-wind ). So maybe the name for your transition is a board tack - body gybe ?? I think the term duck tack originate...

Re: Aluminum vs. Carbon Mast and Fusalage

What kind of weight are we talking of ? Slingshot aluminium masts are known for being particularly heavy.

I own 2 F-One masts. The pre preg carbon 95cm weighs 1.5kg whereas the hollow aluminium 90cm is actually 5 grams lighter .

Anyhow stiffness is way more important than weight .
