Wow. How long did it take you, and how do they fly?

Re: What is the perfect wind?

Back on-topic: Perfect wind is steady 25 knots with no gusts, side-shore or very slightly side-off, in clean, well-spaced, double-overhead waves that peel perfectly down the line, with butter-smooth flat water in between the waves. Paradise. 8) :thumb:

Re: What is the perfect wind?

Peter / Supa, regarding the discussion about being able to ride Down-the-Line with large 15m+ kites - is it possible that you guys are thinking about different wind directions? I, too, have never seen a normal-weight wavekiter ride down-the-line (with repeated, connected top and bottom turns) on a 1...

Re: What is your Largest size kite, for use in water ?

10.5m Wainman Hawaii Punch. Though I do have an old ripped Flysurfer Speed II 15m in storage somewhere that I should probably take the time to repair, for those really lightwind days. It's been a couple of years since I had that Speed II out, but I remember that it's not a bad kite for really margin...

Re: Boat assaults kite.

I say the kiter is a tool. He goes and checks out a boat and then crash his kite on flat water... if you don't have control to ride chop without crashing you shouldn't be riding close to boats. The video title should read idiot kiter crashes kite in front of boat. +1 :thumb: Furthermore, you can se...

Re: Harness fail

I had that harness-as-anchor thing happen to me too when my harness broke off earlier this year, but in my case it was a good thing as it allowed me to catch up with my runaway gear. The wind was cross-off, so at first when my harness broke off I thought that it was definitely going to be bye-bye to...

Re: Quality Ripstop Tape needed

When you say that the glue "doesn't hold", do you mean that you are not stitching the ripstop nylon tape after gluing it on? For me, the glue is just there to keep the new riptop repair tape in place until I've had a chance to zig-zag stitch it on both sides of the rip with good nylon or polyester t...

Re: Utah Kiter sets new jump record

Billy's story sounds credible to me. I'm curious, though, why you say that this wasn't a lofting. What's the definition of a lofting? (Serious question - I don't know the answer.) Do you mean that it wasn't a lofting because Billy himself initiated the jump? Cause in that case, it sounds like you co...

Re: Beaufort scale is useless.

Plummet, you'd really consider going out in 10 Beaufort (48+ knots)? That's where I definitely draw the line myself... Personally I'm on my 7.5m kite starting around Beaufort 6, will be on my 4.5m in Beaufort 7, and would want to switch to a 3m kite around Beaufort 8. In force 9 (41+ knots) I'd be v...
