Re: Tips for faster sining kites back up after diving?

+4 for looping. More specifically, start with the kite at 12 or slightly towards the direction in which you want to go, then downloop the kite (i.e., loop it in the direction you want to go) and let it loop all the way around. In really light wind, there is no point in slowing down the kite by forci...

Re: Gokova Turkey Need Intel!

Thanks Saami, good to hear from you again. Did you check out marmaris? You reckon I should stay near the beach? Did you book in advance? Marmaris is OK, but if I go on a kite holiday, I prefer to stay as close to the kitespot as possible. But sure, there is definitely more going on in Marmaris than...

Re: Gokova Turkey Need Intel!

I was there the week before last. Seraphial is right, don't bring your two small kites. Admittedly the wind might pick up a bit more in the next month or so, but probably not by much. You will definitely use your 12m a lot - I remember the kite sizes you used when I met you last year, and for Gokova...

Re: My review of Rebel 2012, 12M

So to recap my understanding is the following: in case of wrap around the 5th line, recommended thing to do is unhook (not actioning the safety on the chicken loop), remain attached with the leash connected to 5th, let go of bar and basically wait. Correct? Correct, that usually works. The kite wil...

Re: How to ship the surfboard from USA to Thailand, or Singa

I recently had a surfboard shipped from the United States to Singapore by DHL. It is fast (a few days transit time) but not cheap, you are looking at at least $200 in shipping charges. Air freight might be cheaper. Your friend is right, don't ship anything into the Philippines or Thailand, the custo...

Re: My review of Rebel 2012, 12M

Didn't know that about wainmans, thought I saw pulleys and bridles on them also but I guess you learn something every day! I should have been more clear: The Wainman kites do come with bridles, but on all sizes 9m and smaller, you have the option to remove the bridle and instead connect the front l...

Re: My review of Rebel 2012, 12M

The method for clearing a wrapped 5th line that JamesVegas describes works, but personally I don't like to hold lines in my bare hands unless I absolutely must (I think it's an unnecessary risk). The method I have used instead is to simply unhook the bar from the harness hook, release the bar, and w...

Re: My review of Rebel 2012, 12M

But the chicken loop and the depower clear are the best in the market (the rest is junk, especially the lines) Agreed, the North "Ironheart" chicken loop / safety release system is the best system that I've come across. Solid construction, does not require a huge force to activate, allows you to re...

Re: My review of Rebel 2012, 12M

Thanks, nice review! I've tried quite a few Rebels and Wainman's myself. I agree with you about the Rebels having a longer hangtime, particularly the 2012 Rebel 12m - that thing is a flying machine. Rebels were always good for jumping, but North somehow took it a step further with the 2012 models. I...

drowned and kittens recently? or kicked a puppy? might not be your vision but hell i dont see anyone else doing anything with that kind of ambition… Well, all right, perhaps I was kind of negative. 8) Still, haven't we heard that kind of complaints for years and years ("we do this for the lov...
