Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Blowing like stink means 9m, for me. Blowing like stink means I'll probably have a couple of pucker moments when I might suck in the ass end of my Gore-tex shell pants while riding out a short squall. But it's worth it to be lit up all day! Anything west will be good. Bay of chickens was totally fro...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Br44, miramaui is our euphemistic moniker for miramonte reservoir south of norwood. Chris, I'll bet that Blue Mesa will blow like stink tomorrow. Could be a good day to park at the dam and do a downwinder damn near all the way to Gunny, then hitch back. Scott, I too look forward to hearing about you...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

We had a wonderful Groundhog Day Kite Invasion with a record 8 kiters up to Snow Mesa last weekend, under the tutelage of Mr Snow Mesa (Scott). Big kites (even Justin!) and blue skies Saturday way up high. The snow was a little wind-affected but there were some soft pockets to chase, along with some ...

Re: Strawberry Utah View Area

Looking good guys! I'm considering heading west this weekend Feb1-2 for an invasion. I know, I know, I'll miss the superbowl, how unamerican. Can anyone help out with a recommendation for the forecast? Strawberry or Skyline or both? 4wd needed based on the snowfall? Would love to hook up with the lo...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Back-to-back great days this weekend. Saturday was steady light wind in knee deep untracked powder at Lizard head with Mickey and Anthony. Heavy lines at the lifts in Telluride meanwhile we had LH all to ourselves. Sunday, unbelievably, was even better above treeline on RMP with Lorne and Parker. Li...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Hey Gang, I'll be out in Frazier next weekend with family. I have a hall pass for afternoon of January 13 and all day 14. Any easterners/northerners who want to get out? I'd love to check out some cool alpine spots. Cheers, Matt

Re: Flite sizing

Alford, I'm 90 kg and I love the 12m,17m Flite combo. You ought to be able to hold down the 12m til it's really honkin. 17m bar pressure is light. I thank Todd at OR for recently taking the time on the phone to walk me through the bridle lock mod.

Re: When is "Big" too big?

Here we go again with all the foil light wind BS (respectfully, in my opinion). A lot has to do with the thing attached to the BOTTOM end of the lines (the pilot). I never have an issue hindenburging my heavy LEI. I see lots of foils laying in piles as I go by. No doubt Speeds, etc are amazing when ...
