Re: Montana 6 12.5 issues

Ditto snobdr. Please describe what you have been flying to prepare for your big kite so that I may chastise you properly. With that kite , in that size, it will take a very small increase in wind speed to create a huge increase in power and lift. How are your kite flying skills while you are air bor...

Re: Attn: Northeast Snowkiters....please read

I have'nt checked her site but is she getting out of the kite business and shutting down her fastest speed of the week site? Kitestorm was such a big fun event , just getting there was an adventure , it will be sorely missed by me and my kids! IT WAS A GREAT RIDE , GOOD LUCK RACHEL!!!!!!!!

Re: Outside Storage Bin for Kites

I use an old bulky fiberglass cartop carrier set on a shelf in my garage, well proven against wind ,rain, and rodents. Any thing you get for outside I think I would put on stilts or really course gravel to discourage creapy crawlies and little furry criters.

Re: Local Accident...

The kiter involved posted the event on another forum. Very experienced kiter had his kite set up to go ,then went to assist another kiter, went back to his kite and launched. During the time away from his kite the wind or whatever had wraped a line arround a pulley and he launched an immediatly out ...

Re: Kite buggy on frozen sea

Be sure to post your speeds on www.stormboarding.com and popeythewelder has a site for buggy speeds. I clocked 48mph on a sled I built and expect to go a bit faster on my buggies that I just built blades for. I think race kites ought to be fastest but there just are'nt enough out there flying on the...

Re: i got threatened with a ticket for kiting w/o a life jac

While labeling a kite board a vessel is a bit of a stretch to include riders into the floatation safety rules, the underlying motivation is to improve survival rates. This increases the likelyhood that accidents will become resques and reduces the the likelyhood of recoveries. Resques = moderate fin...

Re: What size foil kite for me?

At 120 pounds you have to be careful on the advice you get , most guys flying are a lot heavier and may not know what 120pounds hooked to a kite will do. I have a 5,7.5 and10meter Apex II , one 80 pound and one160 pound kid and three other neighbor kids that fly these. A 7.5 apex may be very similar...
