Re: foil kite catcher

Off the top of my head, if self landing using the brake handle or flagging the kite is not an option. A net supported by a couple of "long" upright poles that you can back stall the kite into. (A football goal for example) © :D You just need the kite to be secured long enough while you do a 25m dash...

Re: Duotone Introduces The Capa - Freeride Foil Kite

@NEKitesurfing - I was of the understanding that LCL’s was a unique feature that only Flysurfer kites provided and have always considered the concept a neat idea that provides the following benefits: 1.Acts as a fuse and will be of a lower breaking strain than the bridle line its connected to and de...

Re: Peter Lynn Venom?

Nearly 15 years later you are about 15 years late. A Venom is technically a foil kite, but nearly as different to what is considered normal foil kites as foil kites are to tube kites. They were good kites for their time and can still be but don't judge foil kites in general from an old Venom that l...

Re: Ram airs crash in 2019

Hello Matt, With respect to your quote "I was using a closed cell foil that absoutley outprformed both the Flysurfer "Speed" series and the Chrono 1 & R1 on features/terrain. The only foil kite I still have not tried is the LF race kite" Out of interest can you put a name to this foil kite and what...

Re: Ram airs crash in 2019

I’ve been flying Ozone Chrono’s (V1’s) since 2014. They are superb kites in my opinion. Clearly not for everyone and perhaps have a “niche” following. I don’t use them as “Race Kites” as such but tap into the performance for general use. Pic = Ozone Chrono V1 (18m) sitting comfortably at the edge of...

Re: Ozone hyperlink pulling to one side; speed system problem?

Check that the front and back lines are of equal length.
What you have described sounds like flying line length discrepancies to me as 15cm is excessive.
As for launching, with time you will be launching it with your eyes closed :-)
Looking forward to an update on what you find.
All the best.

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

@merl – Nice review. I’m a bit late in joining the FS Peak 4 thread/debate but I saw a Peak 4 at my local beach for the first time yesterday and was really impressed.I was going to have a closer look at the peak and have a chat with the owner, but didn’t manage it. I’m of a similar weight right now ...

Re: Foil kite care & maintenance tips

@dave1986 – As well as keeping the pulleys sand free you will also need to keep the zip sand free as well. I brush the sand off the pulleys and Zip after each session and periodically apply a silicon lubricant to both using a cloth to wipe away the surplus. It’s really a case of continued preventive...

A 2 stage QR would kill more than save I would suggest...
I was referring its use in relation to this thread, when someone is 20 plus feet in the air who plummets into the sea having activated their QR by accident.
Do you have any better suggestions?
