quiver advice

to compliment my 12m banditdos i am currently looking for a new, smaller kite. I am in tarifa for a month and thought this would be as good a place as any to find something. I have been offered a couple of deals on ex'rental kites and was looking for any advice on these offers an RRD passion 7m 2011...

Re: Which helmet to buy?

whatever you do, dont be tempted to buy the Decathlon watersports helmet...they very cleverly managed to choose an adhesive that is not waterproof and so various things have started to come apart on mine after only a few months of use :angryfire:

Re: help needed to understand windguru

http://www.windguru.cz/int/help_index.php?sec=models - here you go Basically WRF 9km is the most accurate usually, at least here. i'll take your word for it as the explanation is a little scientific for me :o such as: 'The North American Mesoscale (NAM) is a regional mesoscale model using enhanced ...

help needed to understand windguru

Hi...i have been using windguru whilst out in west africa the last year and found it straightforward (if not always correct!)

However, when i now look at the forecast for Tarifa where i will be next week, there seem to be 3 forecasts, all different.

I guess i am missing something obvious?? :o

Re: Contact lenses and watersports

you're an eye surgeon so you should know that there are less than 200 cases of acanthamoeba keratitis per year. It is EXTREMELY rare. If so, this is exactly what i was referring to, the over-reaction by medical experts. I do actually wear a helmet and use sun-block. I am probably more likely to die...

Re: Contact lenses and watersports

Thanks for that full reply Jake. I think that one thing to consider is that i currently live in an area where the sea is relatively clean...i.e. the Atlantic coast of Africa but maybe things are a different matter back in europe. Another factor is that though laser correction does seem a good option...

Re: Contact lenses and watersports

As a general comment, I'd recommend getting healthcare advice from healthcare professionals rather than kiteforum. Thanks for that Ron. The only problem i have is that i dont have a huge amount of confidence in 'healthcare professionals'. There is far too much of a tendency towards panic and warnin...

Re: Contact lenses and watersports

Ok guys, thanks for all your replies. It seems that although there is some risk of eye infections through wearing lenses for watersports, these seem to be pretty negligible and so i shall probably just use my bi-weekly lenses (which i normally wear for 3-4 weeks!) for kiting.

Contact lenses and watersports

My opticians have advised me to always dispose of my lenses after getting them wet. i.e. that i need to use dailies. The reason for this, i was told, is that there is a bacteria present in all water which, if introduced to your contact lenses, can lead to a nasty eye infection. So, have any other le...
