Re: Are you thinking about becoming a foiler?

After doing the carbon home build thing, then trying to learn on it I wouldn’t recommend that path to anyone. Would have been quicker, cheaper and much less work to buy an alloy foil, learn on it, sell it once proficient then buy carbon. Alloy foils currently seem to hold their value better than any...

Re: For an absolute newbie

But on the plus side for foiling, usually on any given day you will use a much smaller kite than you would on a twintip. So when things go bad, and they will, there is not as much pull from the kite. Self launching and landing is also much easier as your launching a 5 or 7 mtr kite in 15 knots rathe...

Re: Cloud vs Reo.

Took the outer struts off an old Reo 7 mtr, works great for foiling. Probably screwed the top end but not an issue for foiling. 2.23 kgs before, 1.91 now, drifts great. Maybe an option if Clouds aren’t easily available. Haven’t tried a Cloud but they aren’t readily available in Oz. tell me more abo...

Re: One kite for old school AND foiling

Ozone Reo 10 mtr, lightweight and ticks most boxes. Will perform better in higher wind ranges than a single strut but still light enough for light wind HF. Or the 10 mtr FS Soul but you have to want a foil kite and kite in a suitable location.

Re: Specific grease for Hydrofoil

I use this stuff, works well. I cover all joins and screw threads, assemble foil and wipe off excess.

Re: Dolphins

We have plenty of big turtles, they just pop up in front of you. Only a matter of time before one of us here hits one, going to be ugly.

Re: Pansh Aurora II vs A15me

Thanks foilholio, this will be my 5th foil kite, still a bit of an experiment. Still working out whether to run a 5th or use brake lines as a safety. Not possible with larger sizes but on a 3.5 just using the brakes might work

Re: Pansh Aurora II vs A15me

On a 3.5 mtr kite, only used for foiling so in its lower wind range, is a depower bridle required? That is the question.
