T^hanks for all the feedback... i really appreciate it. I've decided to learn to jibe the directional and i think i will just lose the straps. Its a new learning curve but i will enjoy it.
No idea on the shinn dundee. I have ridden the shinn monk and the shinn super shinn. i can tell you the monk is a chop monster, eats it up. it is also good in the flats. the supershinn is great in the flats but not so great in the chop and waves. i highly recommend the monk.
For you directional guys, I am having trouble making any upwind progress when i go toe side on my directional. The transition is fine, i just seem to choke the kite as soon as i start heading upwind. Im looking to get a new kite for myself for the 18 to 30mph range. I'm 200lbs... Intermediate rider. Not looking for pros and cons of the 2 kites. Just I can't ever figure out the wintange charts since I'm not 170lbs , which they are made for. thanks for any feedback.
You may be trying to edge too hard into the wind, too quickly. Start out by pointing the board more down wind. Once you get up, keep pointing slightly downwind and really sign the kite (depending on wind) to get some speed. Once you get better at that, and starting to ride for a ways, start trying ...
